The Shale Energy Bust Is Starting

Shale drilling is a boom for the United States. Since the economic crisis in 2009, this is one of the bright spots of true growth.

The challenge is falling oil prices are starting to have an effect.

Companies drilling in shale took up huge levels of debt to finance their activities. This was not a problem when the price of oil was over $70 a barrel.

With oil being more volatile and in the low $50s, the impending credit crisis for shale drillers could be starting.
