Mens parallel giant slalom snowboarding event on the Winter Olypics has just finished. In the semifinals we saw a very close decision, when Lee Sang-Ho from South Korea beat Zan Kosir from Slovenia. The differene: 0.01 of a second.
But lets look at the photo of both athletes crossing the finish line:
It is clearly seen that Zan (on the far lane) is ahead of his opponent. The rules: any part of the body that crosses the finish line counts. He raised his arms thinking he had won, and was later shocked when he saw the results. He protested, but nothing happened.
I dont want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but lets just take a look at the judges for the event:
Start referee, Chief of competition and Chief of course all from the host nation. Hmmmmmm....
In the spirit of fair play, the Olympic Committee should no have allowed the Start Referee, Chief of Competition and Chief of Course to be from the host nation.
