Skateboarding, At the Olympics? And Soon?

in olympics •  6 years ago

Well written post bro.
As a skateboarder , I wouldn't call skateboarding a sport so I don't think it has place in the Olympic games.
On the other hand , since it will be an Olympic sport we took advantage of it and pressured the mayor of our city to build a skatepark. And we did it.
I've been skating this city for almost 14 years and trust me , we have had big discussions for a park and nothing.
Sorry for the babbling , my point is that whether we like it or not , a coin has 2 sides and both can be good.

No, I know. My significant other was pointing some things out to me. I have to say that you are correct. There is just a giant soul sucking sound that comes with popularity and commodification.

I remember in ~2005 it became hard to find replacement kingpins. There was the outsourcing to China. For me, pouring these things into a Global Melting Pot doesn't bring out the best in skateboarding per se.

IMO, there are more "lifestyle" people shopping at Zumiez and buying a banana board or longboard and maybe less people skating for real.

Can't disagree with you on that one man.
You sgould check out @steemskate bro.We ain't selling style in here,we just skate.Would be so cool if you could share some skate stuff with us
