How to Watch the Olympics Without a Cable Subscription or Satellite – Cord Cutters Olympic Hacker

in olympics •  8 years ago  (edited)

I am a cheap hacker. I’m not really a coder, but I’ve always been fascinated with hackers. I have learned how to implement much of what they create, but never been left-brained enough to do it myself. Plus I’m not very malicious… only white hat. I have always been a rebel, so it is fun to subvert any system- including paid television.

STOP the BS and show me how to watch the Olympics NOW!!

OK, follow these two links and you will be watching the Olympics and some of the different channels right now via streaming.

(if these links do not work, then look below at how to find your own…)

If you would like to watch the streams on your TV, you simply need to hook a laptop or a device up to your TV via HDMI cable, or buy a digital casting system. I currently use ChromeCast, but you can also use AppleTV,. With a cast device, you simply mirror your device to your TV wirelessly.

A great paid alternative to cable is Sling TV. The $25 a month plan includes NBCSports and the Olympic affiliate channels(Bravo, USA, MSNBC, and CNBC). It is like Netflix, it’s streams through your device, and is not on a contract.

How do I find these streams?

I always start with Reddit. To find whatever sports streams you’re looking for, Google: (sport) Reddit stream. Last year I watched the entire NFL season this way.

Tip: don’t always use Google. Google blocks content that it believes is copyright infringement. I still use Google first, but use DuckDuckGo as an alternative.

Google is censored. Google is a corporate site that is beholding to its business affiliates. However they still have the best search algorithm.

Still can’t watch the Olympics? The next step would be to watch it on NBC.com, but you need to confirm a cable subscription. If you have a family member or a neighbor that uses cable or satellite, you can just take your device over to them and have them login themselves and confirm their account on NBC.com. Then you can watch all the Olympics there… I just don’t know anybody that pays for that stuff. All my friends are cord-cutters.

Cheers! Mars

It's cool you want to help people, but the Olympics hurt people where ever they go. http://www.latimes.com/world/mexico-americas/la-fg-olympic-land-grab-snap-story.html

Its interesting how most cities go bankrupt after Olympics... Boston turned down being a future site... They knew they couldn't afford it!!

Olympics also brings in money for the country. U can't have both.

You have to pay to have the Olympics in your country and i don't think kicking out the homeless for a bunch of rich people is the right thing to do.

why would you want to, artificially enhanced humanoids. Olympics is just a business now days; nothing to do with competition, just sport as a business medium...

I can't wait till we have Transhuman Olympics! Bionic battles!!

Truly how to honor the Rio police force, this is the only government police force who can compete with drug dealers or terrorists for number of sanctioned murders every year...

What do you mean? Thanks

that the police 'decease' about nine people per day; I do not say murder, kill or execute, but they do 'decease' lots of people...

Damn! I will read up on it!!

As a cordcutter, I'm glad to hear there are alternatives (in case I wanted to watch the Games). Thanks for posting this. I love your ingenuity!

Thanks, SlingTv is stable, but not free. I love the hunt...!
