I got this done about ... 5 years ago (??). I was offered 2 options. They were both the same price moneywise but one would cost me a day of pain and the other would cost me 3 - 7 days of pain. The first involved using something sharp to cut and lift the outter skin over my pupil and the second involved scraping the outter skin out of the way without cutting. I was advised to go with the first option to avoid having to take a week off work but I was told the alternative option was really only for pilots and people whose career requires them to have sight because the first option could only really be done once and you could never get laser eye surgery again. Because I have an obsession with planes and flying I went with the second option.
I don't regret my decision but I will say the pain is pretty incredible and you would want to have a very good person to look after you 24/7 until you can see again. I walked out of the surgery on an anesthetic and a bit dizzy but my eye sight was impeccable. Once the anesthetic wore off my sight was blurry but in a different way to before the surgery and they felt extremely dry and sore. I had drops to keep them hydrated and free from bacteria and gradually over 3 days my sight recovered though there was still some pain from the dryness for a few days after.
I remember being told my vision would actually be greater than 20/20 and I did notice that I could see the stars in the sky better than ever before and I came out every cloudless night to see them. I actually fell in love with the stars once I was recovered even stopping the car at night sometimes to get out and watch them. I could recognise people clearly from ridiculously far away, I felt like a superhero. About 6 months later I got a little scared that I was losing my vision again. The super vision should only last about 3 - 6 months after surgery and I had forgotten that I would come back to 20/20. Still, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anybody with impaired vision.

Laser eye surgery does not give you laser vision.
I’ve never been more disappointed.
