Während Bitcoin in die Höhe schnellt, hat es einen Altcoin nun hart getroffen. Onecoin wurde nicht nur in Ungarn und einer Reihe weiterer Länder verboten, sondern in Italien offiziell als Pyramidenmodell definiert. Die Folge: Zum ersten Mal geht eine Regierung hart gegen ein Cryptocoin-Unternehmen vor und verhängt hohe Geldstrafen.
Die AGCM (Antitrust and Consumer Protection Authority) hat in Italien zugeschlagen. Onecoin gilt jetzt offiziell als Pyramidenmodell und die mit dem Altcoin in Verbindung stehende Firma wird mit einer massiven Geldstrafe bedacht.
Schon im Februar verbot Italien die Cryptocurrency Onecoin und entsprechende Werbung für den Altcoin im eigenen Land. Der Firma hinter der digitalen Währung OneCoin wurde schon damals eine Geldstrafe angedroht, sollte sie weiterhin die Cryptocurrency in Italien bewerben.
Nun wurden Nägel mit Köpfen gemacht: Gegen OneCoin wurde eine Strafe von 2,5 Millionen Euro verhängt. Damit dürften sowohl die Währung als auch die Firma vor dem endgültigen Aus stehen.
