One photo every day: Kiemis being funny. (227/365)

in onephotoeveryday •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hi!

While I was making a smoothie in the kitchen, Miro suddenly called me from the livingroom, wanting me to come see Kiemurainen. So I went there and ended having to bring out the camera. It was too just too funny.

Kiemis after a dive in peat.
She was just resting there, with a lot of dirt piled on her head.

Camera body: Canon EOS 550D
Lens: Sigma ART 50mm ƒ/1.4
Aperture: ƒ/1.8
Exposure: 1/60 s
ISO: Dual-ISO 100+200

I've posted about Kiemurainen before, but I think it always deserves to be mentioned when she does something interesting. :)

Btw. If you were wondering about the smoothie I mentioned, I made here a list of ingredients:

  • 1 avocado
  • 1 banana
  • 1 apple
  • 150 grams of frozen berry mix (strawberry, raspberry, blueberry)
  • 100 grams of frozen lingonberries
  • 1.5 dl Turkish yoghurt
  • 1 squeeze of eucalyptus honey mixture
  • 2 dl blackberry juice

Edit:

  • add some cashews, pecans, walnuts and pumpkin seeds to taste, I forgot to mention these.

It was Really Good! :)

Great shot and I think your pet snake is looking funny.

What kind of food you serve to your snake ??

By the way looking so cute.

What kind of food you serve to your snake ??

We feed her mice. On Christmas, we gave her a rat.

LOL....the snake is really having funny look with some dirt over its head.

Steem on....

Lol
It looks like he has a little hat
XD

Kiemurainen seems so silly, it's as if Miro caught her while having fun alone and believed that nobody would see her, luckily Miro caught it and you didn't miss the moment, really funny pic and that smoothie if it sounds like a sweet sweet beverage, thx for the recipe, I'll have to change some berry but I can work with the rest.

looks like she is exhausted after a party :)

:D

HAHA
wearing camo!
:D

Hahaha its like your snake is using the dirt as a hat! Good catch by Miro!

wow.... it so nice.

Lol, I guess she likes chillin' with some dirt on her head!

Wow, it is fascinating and alittle bit frightening :) Thanks for the great photo and the recipe! I will try it soon.

I have never tasted smoothie but i will definitely like the smoothie because you used my favorite ingredients, to make it fruits!!!

She is cute, probably it doesn't matter for her if there is some dirt on her head.
Hey, you seem to love sugar the same as I do. That smoothie can liven up my mood for sure lol.

It looks coquettish the snake with that garbage on his head hahaha looks like a crown

note: I have always been afraid

My name is Kiemurainen and I'm sooooo cute. I'm soooo cute, look at me go! One day I will grow into a Python and eat Jaro.
Don't tell him (Or I will eat you too).

I never knew that snakes could be fun as pets but I guess I was wrong :D

I'm going to test that smoothie tomorrow

Now that IS a funny one!

I always liked exotic pets as a kid and never really got one back then. Remember wanting a tarantula or a snake and my mother being hardly against it. Great catch again with the photo! :)

a sharp photography & your pet snake kiemis's head is the main focus. impressive photography & nice recipe :) @gamer00

@resteemia

It seems interesting the preparation of the milkshake, I have never tried it, some ingredients are not available in my country, but I think I will invent and replace the ones that are not available.

By the way, it's good that he's not in hunting mode, haha and he just rests

I am petrified of snakes. I nearly lost my mother to a snake bite when I was only 5 years old.

Good thing our Kiemis is not poisonous.

Did you grow up with a pet snake?

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Nah, it's my boys' snake, they got it as a promise from their aunt when her snakes laid eggs. We didn't originally approve it, but when Kiemis had hatched, and later moved into her new home, our place last Spring, we eventually grew fond of it. The boys have loved Kiemis from the first time they saw her.

This one is very cute! She thinks she is playing princess and that she has a jeweled crown on her head!
She has grown up so fast! Much bigger than four months ago! She must be very well fed!

Cheers.

with a lot of dirt piled on her head.

Hahahhaha. Thats funny. I think she feels lonely sometimes. Are you planning getting a mate for Kiemurainen?

We shouldn't, as she is not to have offspring. We were told she has a kinked spine as a birth defect. I'm not sure if it's hereditary, but since it is forbidden here to breed snakes with this condition, it looks as though it might cause some problems if one were to breed them.

I'm also not sure if snakes really long for company, as they seem to lead kind of solitary life in the nature and only occasionally come together to mate and breed.

wow excellent shot and looks like she found a perfect place to hide.

@gamer00,
Wow your pet "Kiemis" looks so great (I mean cute) in this photography! Excellent photography Jaro! Outstanding!

Cheers~

It bloody eyes looks magical wow

Nice capture of your pet snake .
Thanks for sharing jaro

Beautiful snake! Is that an albino?

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Does it look like an albino?

FYI, albinos lack all pigment... our Kiemis lacks only black pigment, melanine, the colour is thus called amelanistic.

Edit: It appears that there is such a thing as "partial albinism", and that reptiles are more common to have partial albinism as opposed to absolute albinism, amelanistic being one example of partial albinism.

Ah ok just though because of the red eyes.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Ok, It looks like I will have to (partially) retract what I said, as according to Wikipedia on this subject, partial albinism is more common for reptiles than absolute albinism, thus making partial lack of pigment a form of albinism (or however it should be interpreted).

In snakes, partial absence of pigment is more common than absolute albinism. For snakes that are usually patterned in colours, they appear as a faint blue, peach or yellowish. In these cases, there has been a genetic mutation in the melanin and pigment delivery. The appearance comes from the inability for full colours to be present, such as black, red, brown and others. The eyes of an albino snake are typically red or pink. Albino snakes can remain in the sunlight for several hours with minimal harm. Corn snakes and snakes of larger types, such as a boa or diamondback snakes, are the most commonly affected by albinism often appearing to be a pinkish or yellowish colour.

Sorry about that. I should've checked before having such an outburst. The truth is I wouldn't probably even have checked it, if my wife hadn't mentioned people commonly refer amelanistic snakes as albinos.

Haha no problem! I know that feeling well when you have to repeat the same thing over and over to different people. To be honest never heard of partial albinism myself. Even though I'm studying biology (just started) up until now I thought red eyes (from animals with usually pigmented eyes/irises) combined with lighter skin makes this animal an albino. But I guess you never stop learning! Thanks for clearing that up!

Thanks @gamer00 for sharing the post with all of us.

Wow first of all that you captured this moment perfectly with you camera it was a great moment to be sure quite funny indeed and great to see that you have a snake to be honest very rare to see i am very happy to see Kiemurainen in your post's for the first time.

And that's a lot for sharing the secret smoothie Recipe seems like it was Both Healthy and Yummy will try to make this one out on this weekend and lets see how it goes :)

Thanks a lot again for sharing a great post.

Have a great day ahead.

Cheers.

I've always heard of smothies but never for once have I tasted it...I just hear about it and that's all...

Hey jaro you take perfect capture .

Great photos and all and I know this is a bit off topic but what surprised me the most about this post is that there is such a thing as blackberry juice.

Juice can be made of pretty much any berry or fruit, I can't see why blackberries would make an exception to that rule.

Your right it never crossed my mind. Though since they are a pain to pick with those thorns I'm guessing it might be expensive.

Nice a photos

wow..it looks so horrible. @gamer00

Now now, you are talking about a member of our family there.

i dont know that much about snakes
