What a beautiful photo, I've always liked to see how the beautiful sun falls! Here I leave my picture, it was taken from the balcony of my apartment

29088717_601129933558369_7130715158216704000_n(1).jpg

Good. I'm guessing you took it just for this comment! If so I commend you! :)

Anyway, I'd like to give you a couple of tips...

I see you have some distraction on this photo, most noticeably what I would guess is the ceiling light reflection on the balcony glass. You might have managed to remove it by taking the camera closer to the glass, or by opening the window and shooting clear.

You have also divided the scene from the middle, which sort of goes against the rules of composition. It is better to pick either of the lines that divide the scene in thirds for your horizon, depending on which side is the more interesting one, the city below, or the clouds above. If the city is more interesting, you would normally use more real-estate from the photo to the city below. And if you think the clouds are your subject, you would dedicate two thirds of the photo for the clouds. (The Rule of Thirds)

I am not entirely sure, but I must ask. Is the horizon level?

I hope you find this advice sufficient. :)

Well I can tell you that the picture was taken with my cell phone that does not have a good camera. As for the reflection of the light, I did not notice it at once, but thank you very much for your good advice, I will take it into account and follow your steps! Someday I would like to be a great photographer like your brother!

That is indeed beautiful.

While this is what I got the other day.

20180413_172903.jpg

Hmm... makes me wonder.

Could you apply the rule of thirds here somehow? Maybe use the riverbank as a leading line or two that would lead toward the sun? The sun is a bit too high, maybe wait a moment to see how it looks like when it's actually setting?

If you can, go shoot it again with those ideas in mind. :)

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Well will keep that in mind next time.
Thanks for the suggestion buddy.

Hello friend Jaro at what time of Finland was that photo taken?

I'm going to post one that takes at 6:45 pm with my youngest daughter Sofia on the beach, by the way my daughter @victorialanz the amount in a publication.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Very good!

My advice:

I would probably shot this one a bit closer to her, as I see some distraction on the side. Also maybe a bit lower, to get a whole body silhouette on the photo. Nearer to the shore I think would likely work. Oh, and the horizon, it is not level.

So in a nutshell to make an awesome shot:

  1. shoot closer (fill the frame more)
  2. eliminate distractions (like people walking their dogs)
  3. place her closer to the shoreline so her whole silhouette is visible
  4. keep horizon leveled

Some other things to consider:

  • rule of thirds (maybe)
  • the stance of the model (you basically don't want hands to grow out from anyone's face)

There, I think that pretty much covers it for now. I hope you found my advice informative. :)

Thank you very much for that great advice. Friend, I'll put it into practice next time.
By the way, what I said in private, I could not take my daughters. They closed the establishment due to unhealthiness. But when I can I'll do it. regards

I forgot to answer your original question though, my photo was taken at 21:42 Finnish time

here it is sir :)

)

hope you like it :) not good as yours but a lil try :)

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

That's a great colour. A bit too much distraction in this photo. I would prefer not to have all those stuff in front of the actual sunset. ;) It's a bit hard to give you advice now.

Let's see your sunset without the power lines and awnings, perhaps then we can start our journey to become a better photographer! :)

sure sir thanks a lot for such precious advice it means a lot to me ❤️❤️..

I captured it on some other day!
Hope you like it.

IMG_20180503_182316.jpg

Good... This is taken from a train window, am I right?

What you could do next time, is shooting from an angle where the window pane isn't visible. Secondly there is much distraction in the photo, phone or electric lines over the road... the road itself. And it seems like the sunset is very much behind a cloud.

In short: next time maybe find a place with less distraction in front of the sunset itself. You would get a better view of it, and maybe the photo itself would be a lot more interesting. Then we can start to talk about how to take your photos to the next level.

I took this photo from the metro station!

What are great analysis from you! I am not a good photographer but your suggestions will surely help me to capture better photos! I like the clouds and when it is mixed with sun, it looks beautiful to me.

I think this one is better, it is not a sunset though!

Enjoy this beautiful sunset captured using cell phone.
Btw your click was good too.

This one is very good.

Most of the elements are in balance and I can't really say there's much room for improvement, but take into consideration these two:

  1. Always check the horizon, if it's level or not.
  2. The rule of thirds is not exactly followed here, but considering the heading of the boat that likely couldn't have been helped. Circumstances being what they were, this is probably the best photo you could've got.

Good job!

Thanks for your positive response and i will always remember your tips : )
@gamer00 You are such a great steemian ..... chill buddy +_+

Saw this post and just missed my sunset. Scrolled back on my phone and came up with last sunset photo that I took.

This is a picture of sunset I took in Bourgogne, France a few years ago.

That's quite interesting. How did you get that flare, is it shot through a window? it's like something is bending the flare. :)

Normally I don't like flares, but sometimes it's the flare that makes the photo interesting.

Although I would give this advice, that if you had waited a few moments, you'd gotten a true golden sunset. It's the moment when the sun has just gone below the horizon. Normally, in a sunset photo you wouldn't get, or even expect any flares to occur.

Yes, there is glass pane in front. I think I took it after several bouts of rain and cloudy skies. It had been a few days since a good sunlight and the clouds had just cleared. I wanted to capture some sunshine before it set :-)

I hope you giving me some advice of this photography. Thanks @gamer00

You got the exact same flaring effect I repeatedly got trying to shoot my sunrise shot, I suppose it's the same for all smart phones. I had to retake the photo a few times to minimize the glare.

Anyway, I'd like you to place the sun behind the tower. It might make a better one. (Would probably eliminate the flaring altogether!)

You got the composition set up very nicely. (Maybe if you can, move the tower just a bit more to the right in the frame to make it follow the rule of thirds too as the horizon already does).

Altogether there wasn't too much to criticize on this one. :) Good job!

Altogether there wasn't too much to criticize on this one.

I know you given me best advice. I try to do my best in next time using your advice. Thanks for the support @gamer00.

Hello friend, Here I leave you to take on a fishing afternoon Unfortunately, in the photos you can not appreciate the beauty of the sunsets. IMG-20180226-WA0011.jpg

Hello friend, Here I leave you to take on a fishing afternoon Unfortunately, in the photos you can not appreciate the beauty of the sunsets.

Now this will be interesting, and a bit difficult to dissect.

I might try to let the sun set even further down, because in this photo we are left wondering at the lens blare and not the scene itself. It can be a nice effect but it shouldn't be the whole photo.

I would like to see more of the lake itself, and maybe the reflection of the sky while it's blazed with red and purple.

I tried taking it into a photo editor and get things visible, but I actually couldn't, because the things I would have liked to see were so underexposed that they weren't there. So...

My tips for you:

  • Try not to underexpose your images if you can. (In smartphone cameras you can usually pick the spot for focus and light metering by tapping on the screen, try to expose for the trees, or the rock if it makes the shot better)
  • Consider the rules of thirds, how you could place horizon at the either dividing line between the thirds of the photo, or placing your subject at the crossings of the vertical and horizontal dividing lines.
  • If you don't have a subject, and you perhaps want to create some scale to the landscape, add a person, like @lanzjoseg did in his photo. :)

I hope these advice are to your liking, you don't find me too judging over the photo, and I am also terribly sorry about my outburst. I don't know if you can forgive me but here's hoping.

Thank you very much for your understanding and even more for your advice. I have a samsung j7 phone and it really takes good pictures, but it does not take good pictures of the sunsets and I think it's because of the focus. That I do not configure it properly. I will try to focus on a person as you tell me and that the sunset is in the background and see if I get better photos. Thank you

and as I told you before, I am a faithful follower of your project and it is good that you do not reward low comments, or photos that are not your own. I know very well that the better the comment, the better the reward will be for you. The photo I put is mine but unfortunately I was wrong with the google translator and I copied and pasted what was not without realizing it. I ask you to review and give me your opinion about it please. The most difficult thing was to take the own photo and I did it, it would be silly to copy the comment of another user of this same pots. I'm wrong with the translator and it's true friend

Ah, I see... My bad then. But in the future I would hope one would always proof-read what they have written in the comment window. The flag has been removed. And I am sorry for the inconvenience. I may at times be hasty but not entirely unreasonable.

Perfect Oks, I correct it right now. and thank you for trusting in my good faith and my word. thank you. It leaves a lot to talk about you. We live in a world full of errors, it is up to us to correct them or not. Thanks again. regards

Hello gamer00, good night., If you certainly inadvertently made the mistake of plagiarizing that comment. I am human and like every human I am wrong, but I am not stupid nor am I a plagiar friend. I made a serious mistake and I believe that even the worst criminal has the right to defend himself. I explain: I'm from Venezuela and I do not speak much English and I use the Google translator to read your pots and be able to comment, also I also read some of the comments that other users make and so they know that they write to you and avoid commenting Similary. I always try to comment something unique and original since I have with that. Unfortunately for me, this time when copying and pasting the comment that you made @ osc10 I am recorded and when I wrote again in the translator and I went to paste in your pots the comment of osc10 was accidentally stuck. And I really tell you that it was unintentional because if you see my photo you can clearly see that my photo is outdoors and it is not a balcony as he says in his comment. My comment for that photo was: "Hello friend, Here I leave you to take on a fishing afternoon Unfortunately, in the photos you can not appreciate the beauty of the sunsets. "I invite you to take 1 minute of your time and review your previous pots and you will see that my comments are serious and without any plagiarism. I am very honest and fair game but for not understanding English this time I was wrong and very ugly and I admit it, but it was without any bad intentions. You can also check my profile and you will see that I am a serious and committed user. I'm level 45 and no user at this level would commit such an ugly plagiarism like this and in the same pots. I am a faithful follower of your project and as you can see I am not plagiarizing, rudeness or bad actions. I'm wrong and I apologize and I'll learn to be more careful from now on. I only ask you to review what I tell you and really acknowledge the flag that you gave me since it hurts me greatly since it is so much for us here in Venezuela. At any time I wanted to plagiarize any comment, much less cause discomfort. I hope not to bother with my reply. regards

This picture was taken by me when I was coming back From Airport with my mom!
I was driving the bike and suddenly I saw the Sunset and stopped the bike to capture this wonderful sunset, Hopefully, You'll like it @gamer00 and I want your kind suggestion about this photography.

Beautiful. Btw. when was this?

To be more precise one and half month ago.

That's cool, I found your original post with the photo, just had to ask because I did a reverse image search earlier, and found someone else had posted your photo. Since your original didn't show up in the search I was a bit suspicious.

Anyway, good thing we got that thing sorted out. :)

It's an interesting shot.

As for suggestions... I believe I would have placed the sun somewhere else than in the center, using the rule of thirds, resulting photo would've looked something like this:

DQmZATYiYPg678AxbRdutaSE4aNYGgKSoCNTUhJdvLndL4X (1).jpeg

It's I would say quite creative in the use of the tree silhouettes, the way you placed the shrub or branch right in front of the sun. I doubt many would have thought it appropriate, but I think it kind of works. :) I also like the deep orange colours of the sky.

Well done! :)

so you were doubting me?
let me share with you some other shots.

This is my entry :)
IMG-20180501-WA0030.jpg

This one is a breathtaking view. Where did you shoot it? :)

I especially like the layering of the hills in the distance.

The composition is I think spot on...

You can't of course move the sun, which I'd like a bit more to the right, or maybe in between the gorges on the left, as that'd been a monumental task so I will let you off the hook. That is one of those projects that would need months of planning and maybe even years to complete.

If you shot on a moment's notice, you were extremely lucky getting what you got.

But anyway, I applaud your work.

IMG-20180501-WA0049.jpg

Looks good enough... I'll try and post mine tomorrow... Watch out

Here is my photography, though i'm not a good photographer but i tried.

You can check out my new photography post also if you like : https://steemit.com/colorchallenge/@eliyanafox/color-challenge-saturday-yellow

Hi gamer. You nearly missed it. Five more minutes and the sun would have been gone. That was close lol. You proved a point that you can't miss an opportunity.

Oh look at that sky! So clear and beautiful.

It is beautiful to appreciate this moment! what a good photo and beautiful evening

You got a phone - you are in Steemit.
You do not have a phone - just watch.

We don't have sunset in hell. Only torture and pain :(

In this moment there isnt sun :(20180509_183015.jpg

The sun was behind your left shoulder, right?

I love silhouettes, but was man down over the weekend so will add one with a little piece tonight. Give it a look later.

Well I missed the sunset here by the time I saw the post.. and it is so cloudy outside that the sunrise won't be anything I can capture either. :D

@gamer00,
Yesterday I also tried to capture Sunset of Dutch Fort Sri Lanka! Due to rainy weather, it didn't work well! I think Phone cam is not good enough to capture dark color sky! But you made me believe I was wrong! Amazing photography friend!

Cheers~

Quite a distance photo.

It's too late to take a sunset photo in here :))
hey Jaro, could you please check your discord messages?

I'm not convinced. Looking at your account I think you are trying to fool people out of their money.

Why not create some genuine content yourself and not let on that you are someone in need. How do you think I am getting paid through Steem? Nope it is not by setting up a resteem service to share posts to inactive or bot accounts.

I am getting my own followers and organic votes by creating authentic content of my own, and not by using shady bidbots or resteem services.

The question is: why aren't you? Honestly it is not that difficult.

actually, you are right. I think it is taking the easy way out but this platform commercializes more and more day by day.. It is hard to find people like you and think like you.. sorry for bothering you. I hope it will be better place for all of us.

OK, Hi, I´m start to follow You...Now You follow Meeeee...

Hello sezenke.🙏🙏🙏

not taken now :) both of them are from the archive.

The first one is a good sunset photo... The second one, not so good sunset photo.

Compositionally the first one is okey, but the horizon should be level. I like the clouds, and how the building with a round window is placed in this photo. I wonder if you could have panned the shot a little bit to the right that we could se a bit more of that building though.

The second photo's composition is spot on (rule of thirds, even a leading line), but it has some distractions; lens flares, parked cars, disconnected feet and trash cans, and the horizon is also not level. The problem with this shot is it is not particularly interesting. Not like the first one at least.

Thanks for showing these. I think you did well. :) And I hope you find my advice enlightening.

Totally irrelevant. Flagged.

  ·  7 years ago Reveal Comment

Not your photo. Unless you are also the Indian actor Dev Adhikari. And somehow I doubt that. You've been flagged for plagiarism.

Hey buddy i didn't mention there that was mine. I just shared this from my facebook friends post.
But i'm sorry for that, i didn't noticed you wanted original picture.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

i didn't mention there that was mine

Does it make it any less wrong? You did however say it was taken with a...

Device : smsung. J7😃😃

...leading me to think that you knew that because you had personally taken it with your "smsung. J7". You also willfully neglected to mention the fact it wasn't your photo to begin with. Not citing the source when you post someone else's work (plagiarism) is a punishable crime in some jurisdictions. Did you ever stop to think about that?

i didn't noticed you wanted original picture.

You should really check your reading comprehension, I specifically asked you guys to:

"Take a sunset photo with your mobile and post it below."

Did you actually even read the post? I only wrote two sentences, short ones at that. It's not really a very difficult post to read.

And even if I didn't notice it, you should by now already have realized that my blog is all about shooting photos, as in creating new, authentic and original photography, not for posting other people's photos without attribution. That being the case you should already have anticipated and understood that I do not condone any kind of willful plagiarism (e.g. not citing the source, not properly attributing a photo, not giving credit where credit is due).

And now you (hopefully) won't make the same mistake again.
