There was a very long queue of people waiting for taxi at the railway station so I had to walk through the underground passage to the other side of the cross road. I could get a taxi in less than three minutes so it was worth that five minutes’ walk. The sky was very cloudy and grey with a strange feeling of confused sadness in the air. The taxi driver drove quite fast on the flyover which made it very difficult for me to take photos of the new huge building project at Samyan cross road.

This is going to be a big complex of shopping centers, office buildings, condominiums, hotels and conference center, including educational institutions. There is an underground station right at the cross road and a sky-train station ten minutes walk away. Opposite this building site stands a complex called Chamchuri Square which comprises of a very expensive condominium called Chamchuri Residence, a small shopping mall, an office block and a supermarket. My friend told me that the majority of the residence units belong to medical doctors.

This is because a big and famous hospital, called Chulalongkorn hospital is around the corner. Nowadays the traffic jam in this area has become much worse since Chamchuri Square has become operational. Those doctors are very wise to be within five minutes’ walk to the hospital so they would be able to reach their patients and operating appointmemt on time.

I think that once the Samyan project became operational, the only vehicles that would work in this area are bicycles as the trafffic jam would become a permanent phenomenon.

ที่สถานีรถไฟมีคนยืนคอยแท็กซี่เป็นแถวยาวมาก เราจึงต้องเดินลงทางใต้ดิน เพื่อไปเรียกรถที่ถนนฝั่งตรงข้าม เราได้รถแท็กซี่ในเวลาเพียงสามนาที นับว่ารวดเร็วมาก คนขับแท็กซี่ขับรถเร็วมาก ทำให้เราถ่ายภาพโครงการก่อสร้างใหม่ที่แถวสามย่านลำบาก อากาศก็ไม่ดีท้องฟ้ามีเมฆหนาแน่น เราตกใจมากที่จะมีการก่อสร้างคอมเพล็กซ์ขนาดยักษ์ที่บริเวณสี่แยกสามย่าน เพราะตรงข้ามกันก็มีจามจุรีสแควร์ ที่มีตึกคอนโดและสำนักงาน มีศูนย์การค้าขนาดกลางแล้ว.

ตอนบ่ายจะมีรถยนต์เข้าออกมากมาย ทำให้รถติดบริเวณสี่แยกสามย่านเป็นประจำทุกวัน เพื่อนเราบอกว่ารถติดทำให้คอนโดที่จามจุรีสแควร์มีบรรดาหมอไปซื้อกัน เพราะว่าโรงพยาบาลจุฬาอยู่ใกล้มาก ใช้เวลาเดินห้านาทีเอง เราคิดว่าการมีที่อยู่ใกล้ที่ทำงานเพื่อหนีรถติดเป็นสิ่งจำเป็นมากสำหรับหมอ ทำให้เดินทางไปรักษาคนไข้ และไปห้องผ่าตัดได้เร็วในกรณีฉุกเฉิน ยื่งถ้าโครงการใหม่ที่สามย่านเปิดเมื่อไร คงจะทำให้รถติดตลอดเวลา คาดว่าต่อไปคนจะต้องกันมาพึ่งจักรยานแน่นอน เพราะไม่มีพื้นที่ถนนเหลือให้ขยับได้ รถยนต์จะติดกันเป็นแพ จนไม่มีทางเคลื่อนที่ได้แน่ๆ

ในอนาคต นอกจากใชัจักรยาน และการเดินแล้ว เราคิดว่าคนอาจต้องมาหัดเล่นสเก็ตกัน เพื่อลดเวลาเดินเท้าสำหรับคนที่ปั่นจักรยานไม่เป็น ทางออกสุดท้ายคือขี่โดรนขนาดใหญ่มาทำงาน แต่นี่ไม่เหมาะสำหรับคนกลัวความสูงและเวลามีพายุก็ไม่ปลอดภัย เราคิดไม่ออกแล้วว่าจะทำอย่างไร ถ้ารถติดแบบไม่สามารถขยับได้เป็นเวลาหลายวัน
