In Bangkok, the largest book shop can be found at the basement of Sala Prakieo in Chulalongkorn University which is the oldest university in Thailand. This bookshop is owned by the university and boasts the largest collection of books and printed materials in Thailand. A few years ago, the bookshop has been renovated and the new interior design looks very nice with special lighting. The stationary section in the bookshop is also well stocked with all kinds of writing tools and paints, with an Apple shop inside as well; all kinds of computing accessories can be found there too.
Whenever I get bored, I would visit this bookshop to spend one whole hour browsing new books and those best seller books. The other side of Sala Prakieo Building is a big canteen where one can easily find a seat for lunch. I have noticed that Chinese backpackers have started to come into the university for taking photos and having cheap lunch in the canteens!
But the main attraction for me is the design of the building, the architects and engineers of Sala Prakieo. 'Sala' means a large shed or a hall with a big roof for shelter; 'Prakieo' is the name of the insignia of the university which is the same insignia for King Chulalongkorn whose name was given to the university. Sala Prakieo was built in 1965 and it took two years to be completed; so the building was commemorated on 26 March 1967. This building is over 110 years old! I couldn't believe this, it still looks so elegant and strong. As I did some more research on this building, I became flabbergasted and I have to do the building more justice by doing another post. The architect and engineers were extraordinary people of the era and their other buildings are still standing else where in Thailand. I am so very grateful to their dedication and professionalism to have created so many beautiful architecture constructs or monuments of past enlightened period in the country.
Whenever you are looking for books or a nice lunch in green surrounding, please don't hesitate to come to Sala Prakieo.
Wishing you peace, good health and prosperity.
Cheers.

Thank you for the encouragement, I had taken this building for granted in the past. This will be my project; I will take more pictures and remind the young generation of architects to learn about our past architectural heritage.
Cheers.

Thank you very much @noopu. That is not a good idea. I don't want their votes, they need those votes to support other new Thai comers who cannot post in English. I can look after myself and I don't mind if I get small votes. I just like to blog as my diary. The Thai-tag is linked to a voting pool. If I use Thai-tag, I will be pulling vote/money out of the pool.
I think I am happy with having friends here, not the votes or money.
Cheers.

I didn't mean the supporter, I mean Thai people who can read English or the foreigners who like thai. When they search tag "thai" maybe they can see your post.
For me, I don't mind about upvote from thaiteam either. Almostly upvoted I got from my friends.
