What is the spiritual meaning of James 1:27, "Keep oneself from being polluted by the world"?

Spirituality in its true sense consists in taking care of our thoughts and helping our neighbor with works of charity, and not with empty words, as the Apostle James expresses it in his epistle:
"Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world", James 1:26-27.

The apostle warns us that we must not fall into temptation, that we must avoid of being polluted by the world: "Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom." James 3:13.
First of all, we must make the cause of the needy our own, true love is a force of union and compassion, our neighbor matters, the old testament expresses this idea in this way: "Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.", Psalm 82:3.
We live in a world dominated by oppression, and oppression brings with it ignorance, confusion, hopelessness, and fury. Confront the anger, with meekness and patience this is what the love of Jesus asks of us, the world constantly provokes us to error, we must focus our thoughts on what builds, on what is pure, and not on what destroys, and so avoiding entering the wrong terrain: "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.", Philippians 4:8.
This is the spiritual warfare we must engage if we accept the way and the example of Jesus.
