ONE THING IS NEEDFUL

Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Luke10:38 -42

Being with Jesus is one of the most beautiful experience we can have. In the world, many activities might crave for our attention and time. We might have distractions from every side, but in all we must consciously desire a time with the Master. Martha was a nice woman that loved to serve. She was a good person, that sacrificed her time and energy to see things are put in place. This eagerness to make sure everything is in place made her to be too careful and troubled about everything, thus depriving her of a quality time at the feet of Christ. Activities took her away from the revelations gained by studying at the feet of Christ. Are you in Martha's position today? Has the issues of your family, job, marriage, academics, relationship or career rendered you too careful and troubled that you don't have time to spend at the master's feet? Stop and think! No matter how careful and troubled you are, you can't fix everything in your life. No matter how much expertise you employ, you need Jesus.

One thing is needful! A personal time with Christ is needful. An intimacy with Jesus is needful. A time of refreshing in God's presence is needful. Every other thing can be taken away from us anytime, but our intimacy with Christ can't be taken away. Come back to His presence today and experience His mighty power upon every area of your life. He will fix your life and make you strong. He'll deliver you from worries, anxieties or depression. He'll put your home together and give you peace. One thing is needful: a time with Christ is what we need.

Let's pray together. Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your word today. Please forgive us for the times we stayed away from your presence and restore unto us the joy of your embrace, in Jesus name. Amen.
