The old buildings have a deep history in its walls, walls, doors and windows, among other elements, are countless experiences, which are part of the cultures of the peoples and of their collective memory. In this article I want to talk about it, because modernity or false modernity has been commissioned to silence them, and to take away the memory, it is as if they wanted to make a plastic surgery and not let them show off their aging with dignity.
Who of you does not know at least one old house which has been remodeled and is no longer seen old?", or "does not appear to be the same? I am an Architect and I have seen with sadness as these renovations will destroy the beauty of old age in those buildings or monuments.
It is for this reason that many countries have sought to protect it from being erased. The legal instruments for the protection and preservation of architectural heritage established the parameters of action with regard to culture, to ensure the protection and preservation, enrichment, conservation and restoration of cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible heritage and the historical memory of the nation.
In the field of intervention on the architectural heritage exist international letters or decrees that establish guidelines and criteria in this regard, UNESCO, founded an international committee, known by the acronym of ICOMOS, which has the purpose to promote the application of international standards and has subsidiaries in almost all countries.
The so-called "letters": Charter of Athens (1931), Venice Charter ( 1964), Amsterdam (1975), Letter of Krakow (200), among others, are documents written by experts from around the world who have been inspiring the legislation of all countries, giving light and leading the way of intervention in the monuments. The "Charter of Venice, 1964", is an International Charter for the Conservation and Restoration of Monuments and Sites, whose tenets governing in essence the last decades of the 20th century, this letter is the most important cultural milestone, as it involves substantial changes in both the concept of heritage as in the treatment of the works to protect.
In the aspect of interventions will enter a judgment on the formal qualities, also allowing the intervention according to contemporary architecture. It is derived criteria of weight that can lead to the conservation of the buildings.
As an architect I would like to give you some parameters that will respect the building and ancient monuments at the time of intervention:
• Bind with flexibility the historical values and the formal values, developing proposals in line with modern thinking.
• Reveal historical and aesthetic values, respecting the old parts and aesthetic, admitting the contemporary architectural creation.
• Avoid that falsifies the message of History, intention that is specified in the "value" of the existing building on new construction.
Consider the architectural heritage as a renewable resource, proceeding to the historical study of the city in order to rescue those values that form the basis of the cultural identity marabina.
• Reveal the values of the original work through the consolidation of the structure; the treatment to the vain, return to their original shape and dimension; to maintain the technological and formal unit with the new works.
• Apply the Similar Restoration"" (favored by Anton Capital) for the new works; this is a line current avant-garde, with this it is stated that the search for historical authenticity and respect for the authentic, is justified more by the symbol by the material itself. The old buildings and monuments have memory, history and have much to tell us, we must respect them and care for them musing a appropriate intervention and ensure their sustainability for the benefit of the community.
With this article I would like to encourage all of you to the reflection, to assess everything that has something to tell us of our past, or of the past of our ancestors. Are True cultural gems. Based on this fact, we can reflect on what minimum as the chair of the old grandmother, the old trunk, the old wall clock and all those objects that may be in our homes and that by scrapping them or remodeled in order to modernise them and with that action also eliminate our history.
