This is my submission for this weeks Steemit Open Mic contest by @pfunk and @luzcypher. This week I play an Original Song that I wrote about the East Fork of the San Gabriel river called 'Rugged Canyons'.

'Rugged Canyons'

I welcome the rain
It makes me feel alive, and washes away my pain
I sit and watch the fire's light
Combusting reactions keep me warm through the night

And the ground is turning green
But the water's moving, ya causing quite a scene
Beneath it treasures move
The search, my purpose, what I do

East Fork is where I feel at home
In rugged canyons is where I roam
City life, it's not for me
Out in the mountains is where I'll be

I often feel confused
Pointless efforts, getting used
I can not focus but I see
I'm not domesticated, I'm wild and free

In the inside of the bend
Just me all alone, on that I can depend
So I look under the ground
Feeling so real, listening to the river's sound
