Open Mic 94: What a Wonderful World

in openmic •  6 years ago

Happy Wednesday, Steemit! This was one of those takes that you have to keep taking over and over to get a clean, uninterrupted take. 😛 Between the wind, the barn cats, and my children, I think it is safe to say the fifth time is the charm!

It’s been very hot here in southeastern WA the last few days, and today we’ve been catching a lot of smoke from the fire in the Dalles just down river. Alas, fire season has begun. Please pray for our first responders and any who may be displaced due to the flames.

An interesting, gentle interpretation of Louis Armstrong's immortal song. Very unexpected! Take care, Heather, we have a fire season in the forest zones, too, by the way. But it's raining a lot, so I hope we can get through this.

Thank you @yurche! 🙂
Sorry to hear you are in fire season, too. I am glad you are getting rain, though. That helps a lot!

Well, our nearest woods aren't burning. It is somewhere far away, in Siberia firefighters extinguish fire, and at us here it is good, quiet. We go to the forest for mushrooms and berries : )

I am glad it’s father away from you. Living with a fire practically at your back door isn’t nice. The one we’ve been getting a lot of smoke from is three or four hours’ drive away from here, but our entire area is very, very dry right now.

What type of berries are you hunting for?

Now in the forest full of the blueberries, although sometimes still enclosed strawberry. If well protected from mosquitoes, and being out in the woods 3-4 hours, it is possible to gain 5-7 liters of blueberries. And this year mushrooms started early. Usually in the fall, in September, but already now a lot of them in the woods.

Wow, that’s awesome!

We have a bunch of blackberry bushes over here, too, but ours won’t be producing for another month.

Um, I think we're talking about different berries. : ))
Here is blackberry:

And here is a blueberries:

We have blackberries too, but they keep up in August. It seems we have a similar climate : ))

Ooohhh! Wow. So the blueberries grow wild there, too??

Here berries grow along the banks of streams and rivers

We have in the wild a lot of different berries growing.
Thickets of wild raspberries in the forest come across :

Bilberry:

Stone berry:

Cowberry:

Cranberry:

Shadberry

WOW!!! That’s a lot of variety!

Hey, @yurche, have you ever had the “Sea berry” also called the “Sea Buckthorn”??

We saw one in a nursery pamphlet here when we were looking for more plants for our orchard and were intrigued!
