Openmic Week 67: Anybody Seen My Girl/Please Don't Talk About Me

in openmic •  7 years ago

OMG it's been like 13 weeks! There are people born at the end of November who've never seen me enter OpenMic, ever!

Let's put that right with a rattle through (not one but) two old standards which helpfully have exactly the same chord changes but also I know well enough most of the time to remember which one I'm singing at a time. I hear this contest has become totally humungous since I was last here and I hear @luzcypher is tightening up on musicianship but I think I've got 'em fooled with this ukemelele lark.

Thanks to Mr @luzcypher himself as well as @pfunk (do you vote for @pfunk as a witness? What? you don't? Put it right straight away!) and the bevy of beautiful, talented and totally uncorruptable judges.

Haha oh man that Kazoo imitation...or was that a trumpet probably? whoops :)

Great intro and solo regardless ;) I think Instead of Dan and the egg, I could have benefited way more from your lip buzzes heh heh.

This had a nice classic Lloyd to it, great performance. It's hard not to think of this tune from "The Jerk" whenever I listen to you play & sing (hopefully that's a positive in your eyes).

I was actually wondering what had happened to you. I hadn't seen an Openmic from you in ages. Glad you're back even if it's just now and again.

It's so hard to tell if I'm just missing all of the classic contest competitors entries (bc there are like 200 entries a week now), or if they are all MIA.

Hope all is going well and good ~

JB

omg totally feel that great comment Jay

Oh. my. goodness. I need to see that movie again, it's been so long. It was exactly this sort of romantic nonsense that made me want to be a musician, those looks between them, walking on a beach with a beautiful woman who suddenly pulls out a trumpet! Ah me!

I'm always touched when people tell me about songs they associate with me. Hmmm.. there are a few, maybe I should learn them all and put out a little EP or something...

I don't think I'd done anything since around the time of Steemfest. The weeks turn into months so easily when you drop the openmic ball. I need to learn (and write!) some new songs and get over the fact that there's now literally gazillions of people joining in.

Good to connect with you always!

great stuff @lloyddavis im so happy to hear you tonight going through these entries, what a breathe of fresh good air. love it

bless you ma'am and thanks for the amazing service you and the judges put in for us no matter what.

Hey bro.

Glad to see you back playing and singing. This is a classic performance from you and I love the contrasting themes. One's looking for his lady and the lady's basically saying don't even ask or talk about me while I am gone, just give up and forget about me! lol

thanks man! I really appreciate your service as a judge here - great sacrifice of your time for the community.

You're very welcome bro. :)

Excellent, great fun number, solid rhythm vocals and man that sliiiiiiiide-trombone!! The end made me chuckle.....

we need more chuckling round this place, glad to be of service! :)

Nice... Love it! Glad to see you back, Lloyd!

thanks my friend, good to be back, I'm just rustling up this week's entry. Need to inject a bit more frivolity into the proceedings I think, it's got awful serious while I was away :D

Ha! Yes, among other dynamics too... I for one (along with numerous others I'm sure) just love the frivolity and entertainment you bring to the venue!

I like this video, nice play.. I play guitar 🎸 too looking forward to be an expert like you.

Well i was born at the very end of November. Also looking for my girl for quiet a while but don't seem to find her anywhere near, starting to think about her existence. After a very long time got the chance to listen some good classical stuff. Thank you sir, Enjoyed it 👍👍

This is great :)

Love it! Good to hear you back! You got me dancing with my coffee this morning.

thanks_for_playing_steemit_open_mic.png

thanks man, that's good to hear :)

I've missed your performances.
It's good to hear you again.
As usual I enjoyed your singing and playing.

thanks Tom, I've missed me too :)

lol

This is awesome sir! I was shoulder dancing the whole time!!

haha! we need to see video evidence of that sort of thing :)

Your wish is my command!

Accepted! Bonus points for being in chilly old Northern Louisiana. From the look of all that fleece it must have plunged to about 55, you poor things :)

Haha yes! It gets even worse when the roads ice! There are cars everywhere and everything shuts down. If there was a generous amount of snow we would all die!

👏👏👏 Great stuff there mate! A most enjoyable and unpretentious barebones performance. Loved it. 👍😊

I'm all about the bare bones :D

Loved it! I don;t play guitar but love to listen to it. I do electronic music...with guest guitarists. Great work!

Totally enjoyable. Well done! I want more music videos from you! Canada is cold right now LOL

Yep, fills a hole in my soul too. Keep warm!

It's really nice to hear you again.

very nice
