Cuando Ilan Chester grabó esta canción yo tenía 2 años y sin embargo la recuerdo en mi infancia como el soundtrack de esa etapa. Si bien aún no comprendía la mayoría de las palabras que conforman la letra, me sonaba tan familiar como si la cantara yo mismo. Ese señor cantautor tenía algo en su música y en su manera de expresarla que me resultaba muy familiar.

Era eso que los franceses llaman Deja vu, esa sensación de recordar algo sin haberlo vivido ni saber de donde ni porque. El caso es que ahora que estoy mayor con 33 años y consciente de todo lo que sucede en esa música me hace mucha ilusión poder hacerle un pequeño homenaje a ese gran maestro de la música popular venezolana. Lo hago con mucho respeto y humildad de modo que espero que lo disfruten.

When Ilan Chester recorded this song I was 2 years old and yet I remember it in my childhood as a soundtrack of that stage. While I still did not understand most of the words that make up the lyrics, it sounded as familiar to me as if I sang it myself. That singer-songwriter had something in his music and in his way of expressing it that was very familiar to me.

It was what the French call Deja vu, that feeling of remembering something without having lived it or knowing where or why. The fact is that now that I'm older with 33 years and aware of everything that happens in that music, I'm very excited to pay a small tribute to that great master of Venezuelan popular music. I do it with a lot of respect and humility so I hope you enjoy it.
