Steemit Open Mic Week 46: Original Song, "Waves"

in openmic •  7 years ago

For this week's Open Mic, I decided to play a piano piece I wrote.

I called it Waves because I envisioned being on a sailboat and as it leaves the harbor, the waves increase in intensity and the wind causes the boat to go faster, rising and crashing over the waves.

Thanks to @luzcypher and @pfunk for heading up the #Openmic contest.

Wow, sweet!

I always need more than one listening to evaluate (not just respond.)
It strikes me as americanized Impressionistic style, very apt for a soundtrack as it seems to follow a narrative line- I get that more than just ebb and flow of waves, it has a starting poit and goes somewhere else, perhaps not far, but elsewhere...
I'd use more pronounced dynamics (yeah, I know its a piano with its dynamic range) if I were to use this in a soundtrack, though, but that could easily happen in production or post-.

Thank you for the detailed feedback! Yes, I agree on the dynamics, in part I do think that some gets lost with the microphone in the camera...there was a lot of clipping, unfortunately. I should RTM to figure out how to adjust recording volume ;) . But a lame artist blames their equipment LOL

I like this song. I like how it wraps up, like if it were words it would be 'this is it, this is how it is, this is how it will always be'

Wow, that's deep @negativer. :)

wow super nice. beautiful original composition!

Aww, thank you, cow man! :D

Simply beautiful

So glad you liked it @Gmuxx!

Wow !!!
This is a beautiful piece of music. Very expressive and one can almost feels the waves in their different forms. Sometimes mellow and on the other crashing and ebbing and flowing. Keep the music alive.

Peace and love !!!

So glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for your support!

Very nice work

Thanks for listening :)

Great post. From me vote.

Thank you!

Bravo, encore, 👏👏👏👏 That was beautiful. It was one of those pieces that make me wish I'd written it.

Wow coming from you that's quite the complement! I loved your submission this week!

Great song!, you have a lot of talent! congrats!

Thank you for listening @dreamrafa!

This is beautiful @morodiene. It made me think of an old school projector slideshow of family pictures, maybe a little sepia tinged, pictures of happy days camping and kids playing in the water and out of focus shots that were developed anyway because it was before the age of digital and you had to get everything on the roll of film developed. And then some truly amazing pictures of a forgotten beauty pop up, a window into the youth of the grandma who is now rocking in the chair surveying the scene.

As you progressed through the different movements you were really conjuring up images in my head - as mentioned by somebody else here, this would be a terrific piece for a soundtrack.

Really enjoyed it. Much love - Gnashster

Wow thank you for that vivid story! I think that is what's so great about music without words is that it can really mean different things for each listener, and that has a special value. :)

I´m with my mouth open <3 reestemed

Is that a good thing, or does it mean you're about to sing? :D

about everything I want to learn everything you do
