Steemit Open Mic Week 52: Moonlight Sonata (cover)

in openmic •  7 years ago

The Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven is probably one of his most famous piano pieces, and one of my favorites.

"The Sonata is one of the most popular piano sonatas from Beethoven’s creation. It is also named The Moonlight Sonata by poet Ludwig Rellstab who, in 1832, had this inspiration on a moon lit night on the banks of the Lucerna River. Some biographers make the connection between the unshared love the composer held for Giulietta Guicciardi and the sonorities of the first part. Even more so, this sonata was dedicated to Giulietta, the musical theme of the first part being borrowed from a German ballad..."

Thank you! :)

Bravo! Beethoven great among the great. 👏👏👏

Yes, Beethoven is probably my all-time favorite composers. :D

Love it, @morodiene Beautifully played.

Thanks for listening, bucky!

Awesome as always , do you think you can help me write better music , I mean in the literal sense. Like writing correctly with correct rests ,notes ect

Certainly. A lot of this can be self-taught. Ask me in Discord and I'll give you some good references to get you started!

Brilliant as ever Moro.
A great choice babe. 😉

Thanks! I'll be working on my next Einaudi soon :)

Oooh, be sure to link me in discord babe. 😉

Wow, you played that piece beautifully! Moonlight Sonata is one of my favorite classical pieces. 😊

Thank you for listening! :)

I dunno, maybe it's just me - but somehow I sense that you really felt this one to the very core... I loved your passion-filled heartfelt rendition of this classic!

Yes, I've played this piece one and off since high school, and it never gets old. There's just so much room for expression.

Very nicely played

Thank you for listening!

👏👏👏👏 Lovely my dear! Beautifully played and your piano has a great tone to it. This and "Pathetique" are two of my favourite piano pieces. 😊

I've actually been working on the Pathetique because I never learned it for some reason. Hopefully I can play the first movement for Steemit someday :)

I will be very taken aback if you get to play Pathetique on here, as it holds close memories of my mother who died far too young (I was 12) and they played the slow theme at her funeral! 😔 Mind you the up tempo sections sound pretty daunting to my un piano trained ear. 😊

The whole sonata is very moving. I'm so sorry to hear about your mom, hopefully (if I can get it to performing quality) when you hear it it will be healing.

wonderful! its so cool to have such talented people here in steemit!

Glad you enjoyed it :)

The delivery was very smooth...the beautiful of this piece is the way it connects to flow with each progression. I am your fan now.

Thanks so much for listening and commenting!

I enjoy every bit of it...not everyone can deliver this piece smoothly.

perhaps you should give cavatina a try, I think you can pull it off.

Cavatina?

you can do this piece beautifully

Wow, so pretty! The harmonies remind me a bit of Erik Satie's Gymnopedie No. 1:

Hi @morodiene,

Thank you for posting your video embed of @beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. It is a very moving piece, and I especially enjoyed listening to your interpretation! The snippet of historical context that you included was also interesting.
