Open Mic Songwriters Challenge Week 2 - Lost and Found - ''Navegante'' Original Song

in openmic •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hello Steemit!

This is my submission for week 2 of the songwriters contest , it's hard to write a song given a theme and in just a couple days , but I will try to keep up , for this week I wrote a little song called ''Navegante'' , that translates somehow into seafarer or journeyman , I can't find the exact word .

The song is about being lost and finding ourselves , the main metaphor going along the lines of '' looking for you in the river of my dreams , carving arrows in your chest you will find the footprints in your hourglass''.... when am i going to write a normal song? hahaha .

Thanks @meno and @luzcypher for setting this up !

Hope you like it.

Hola Steemit!

Navegante

(P. Mena)

Lagrimas de enero
que marcan el comienzo
de un paso errante
que camina adelante

Suben al Velero
Y se detiene el viento
Navegante
de piedra y de sal

Volcando
las dudas en el cielo
Buscandote
en el rio de los sueños
Tallando
las flechas en tu pecho
Encontraras
las huellas
en el reloj de arena

Poemas de un beso
que pintan sobre un lienzo
un paso amable
que camina adelante

Bajan del sendero
y se detiene el tiempo
Caminante
de tierra y de sal

Translation:

Seafarer

(P.Mena)

Tears of January
that marks the start
of a wandering step
that walks in front of me

It gets on the sailboat
And wind stops
Seafarer
of stone and salt

Throwing your doubts to heavens
Looking for you in the river of my dreams
Carving arrows in your chest
You'll find the footsteps in your hourglass

Poems of a kiss
That paint over a canvas
a gentle step
that walks in front of me

It steps down the path
and time stops
journeyman
of sand and salt.

Thanks for reading and listening!

don't ever write a 'normal' song! this is beautiful. Delicate abstract metaphors sung so sweetly. And lovely wandering guitar.... Its perfect! x

Thank you so much @basilmarples ! This means a lot , I'm also looking forward to your songs in this competition , you've got some nice music going on! ( I don't think I can write 'normal' songs since i'm not 'normal' :p ... what is 'normal' anyways?? hahaha ) Cheers my friend!

Im afraid Im very much the WRONG person to be asking what 'normal' is....but Ive got a feeling it sucks, so its probably best avoided, except under laboratory conditions! hehe

hahahahahah XD

Excelente menisko, ya te di mi comentario del tema... me alegra mucho que estes escribiendo material nuevo...

Gracias irmao , tengo motivacion para hacerlo :) . A ver si salen 8 canciones en 8 semanas :p .
