Happy New Year Steemit!

My friend and bandmate was playing this song yesterday, and I can't stop singing it, so here it is for open mic.

It's a cover of a Dolly Parton song, and one of those songs that I love every time I hear it.

To be honest, when I sing this song, I sing it not as a helpless plea, but as a bit of a threat.
The singer is obsessed with her man, and is really afraid of what she will do if Jolene takes her.

I hope that's not too creepy:)

    Ah, this is one of my all time favorite songs.. and somehow I always enjoy the covers more than the original (sorry Dolly). I’ve always seen it as more of a warning rather than helpless plea as well. Really great rendition and I think you made it completely your own. Gonna go listen to it again, happy new year!

            It is amusing to hear such song from a guy! I take the original version as a plea as the lyrics say so and with Dolly's pleading tone but yours indeed sounds like a threat. A threat from someone who will fight to the end for his or her partner. Cool rendition you got there! 😊

                  I loved your cover of jolene. There are few that I liked. highlighting that of Miley Cyrus and when in the Glee TV series they sang it. I liked that you gave him your personal touch. well done. good luck in the openmic

                      OH I loved this version. This is my Favourite Dolly song. I like the way you wove it into such a passion filled ballad. I'd love to have this sung at one of our beach fires in the summer! Nothing like guitar and woodsmoke and waves.
