Steemit Open Mic Week 45 : Original song - Like the Reeds

steemit_open_mic_45.png

This is my entry for the Steemit Open Mic.

I wrote this song on Sunday, and it broke about a year's worth of writer's block:)

Full Lyrics :
I see us strolling through Arkansas
dancing
in the hills painted green
I can hear us laughing on the way back to Beograd
as we see what's there to be seen

We'll be weaving weaving
as we weave together like reeds

All the gates will open or they won't
as we know our role is yet to be seen
All of the elements align
in our blood given time
as long as we breathe

And we're weaving
as we weave together like reeds
in the Hawthorn leaves
and we'll bend at the knees

Happy Fullish Moon, Steemit!

Can't believe, how this is playing in my head now as I'm painting.... You are probably too young to remember the time of turntables, but that's just how it feels in my head now... set to repeat... repeat... repeat... 🎨 🎙 🎼 🎚 🎛 :-)

Thank you @reinhard-schmid :)
It's been happening to me too!
I've been singing it for several days now.

You'll be embarking on a wonderful journey, I can so feel this!!!!! Loved your song :)

Thank you @artedellavita !
I'm very excited for the trip. St. Joseph Missouri for the eclipse, and then a few days in Eureka Springs Arkansas!

Don't forget to share your adventure with us :)

I will!
This will be my first chance to do a travel blog:)

Looking forward to traveling vicariously through you :)

Thank you for hosting it!

Mmmm, I love your voice, @tarotbyfergus. Always so soothing no matter the topic. Great track! I really like the last verse and how its sung. :)

Thanks @alchemage ! This is a love song to a high priestess. We're about to take a trip to Eureka Springs, Arkansas:)
To me, the second verse is pretty much about having patience and not projecting too much of what we think our future would look like.
I've seen bits and pieces of my relationship with this person in dreams, and separating prophecy from mundane life is a challenge...

Incredible. That is a very great philosophy to follow. Allow for the future to develop and unfold naturally rather than forcing it to comply with our visions.

I too am going through a very powerful relationship experience where I am having to do what you mentioned, it's an interesting thing to experience but I am humbled by the phenomenon.

Best of luck in your journeys, and travel safe!

I wonder if the prophecy vs. the mundane ties in with the observed electrons in the double slit experiment?!?!

Hmm, I don't think I quite understand your sentiment, would you care to expound?

I talked with a scientist who ran the experiment himself in a controlled environment and he said that even putting a video camera in the room would cause the electron to collapse from a wave form. Super weird.

Always look forward to your spot on the mic my friend. 👏👏👏 Nice one.

Right back at ya @steelygeoff !

Goodbye writer's block - hello new songs :)

  • I especially like the phrase :
    "All of the elements align
    in our blood given time
as long as we breathe "

Thank you @greatdabu :)

That is a hopeful musing of an Elementalist in love...

in love is the way to be :)

Cool man... glad you broke the block... Real nice vocal melody bro!

Thank you @passion-ground !
I actually wrote this after trainwrecking Peter Gabriel's 'Sledgehammer.' I kept the chords I was playing (C and D) and just started singing something else:)

Love me some "Sledgehammer," perhaps you'll give it another go sometime soon... :)

Beautiful and touching! Great voice too!

"We'll be weaving weaving
as we weave together like reeds"

This is a perfect song for ladies who like to cross stitch and weave. :-)

Ha! I hadn't thought of that.
I was thinking of reeds woven together in a basket though, it just didn't sound cool when I sang it.

I just thought of sewing is similar to weaving. I think you did a great job singing this song. Acoustic is the best! It's raw and authentic. :-)
