An Opportunity To Be An #ophumanangels Angel :)

🎶 Callin' all you angels... 🎵

There is an app called Be My Eyes that you can download to your smartphone and help vision impaired people! https://www.bemyeyes.com

Basically, if a blind or low vision person needs help with a task, like reading the expiry date on a carton of juice, or they dropped an earring and can't find it, or they need to check an article of clothing for stains, etc., they can put out a request for help on the app. The app then notifies the sighted users that someone needs help, and whoever accepts the task connects with a video call to help the person with whatever task they need.

THIS IS THE COOLEST THING and a great example of the kinds of life changing benefits that can happen when technology is used for the greater good.

It's also another thing that makes me lament not having a smartphone. It's not available in the Kindle store! 😭

According to their website, they have 1,332,805 volunteers, 80,729 blind and low vision users, are available in 150+ countries, and in 180+ languages!

So if you've got a smartphone, you can be a human angel for people any time! 💙

That Red Fish your momma always warned you about

I wish I had a smartphone too, so I could do this. This is a cool project. It takes a little time, doesn't cost you anything and helps someone by making their life a little easier. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, @phoenixwren!

I was wached your video that you share here, and it is very useful for me to understand actually how to really use our smartphone wisely and more benefits for us and for others😊

I remembered that for several months ago, I help my neighbour who was went somewhere far away from our live and she leave her daughter alone at home, she told her daughter first will back two days later, but after two days she did not back anymore, and she did not leave a phone for her daughter too, so finally she called my by using video call and I showed it for her daughter, and she explaint why she did not back anymore because some of problems! As brief, I am happy because I can help each other by using what I have, especially about the tool to communicate one to another😌

I also use smartphone to find everything that I do not know before, and it is really useful😊😊😊
Thank you for sharing this #ophumanangels with us @phoenixwren🤗

I'm glad you were able to connect your neighbors!
Man, the days before cell phones were like that. A much less scary story, when I was a kid, my mom went into labor and she and dad went to the hospital without waking me. They left a note to call my aunt. Called my aunt, she had already left her home. Eventually my dad called and said to take money out of his dresser and call a cab to go to the hospital, so I did. The cab driver was afraid for me because he didn't know why a kid was taking a cab to the hospital by themself. 😂

That's poor and funny story @phoenixwren😅
Of course the cab driver was scared and shocked because the child is forbidden to go alone anywhere that are😁

But I proud to @phoenixwren childhood, she like a brave and savior for her family at that time😉

Ive had this downloaded on my phone for a few months, but haven't gotten a help request yet. I think it's great that there more volunteers than people needing the service. 😍💜💜

Right on! Very cool that you already have it. 😊 But of course you would, you angel, you.
