Who wants to learn about musical blockchain? You want to learn about musical blockchain. You do, you do, you do...Gah, please don't sue me Nickolodeon.
What's going on my lovely, human beings, today I want to share with you four potential disruptive projects to shake up today's current music industry, which, if you don't know, is muy mal. That's bad Spansh for very bad. Starting off on our list is organization Opus. Opus Foundation is a decentralized platform using the Ethereum blockchain network. If your brain is wired anything like mine, it took many hours of rinse and repeat to finally get what that meant, but I have future plans to create an introductory video an explain to all my like-minded artist brains. So, come along for the ride for now and hang tight.
Alright, Opus-foundation.org! A platform accompanied by their own token, let's take a look at their home page; very vibrant, I love the colors--work it. To show they mean business, a working demo. White background, easy interface. This is what it will look like for the listener, I assume. You have your tokens, which is used to purchase or receive payments if you are an artist. Almost kind of looks like MySpace when they tried to revamp...they tried so hard--Oh, here we go! A perfect place to stat.
The problem: The music industry is broken. Streaming platforms such as Spotify, Deezer , and Apple Music take up to 80% of artist’s revenue, and while larger artists can accept it, small artists are often unable to make a living from music streaming. Music fans also have a terrible experience. With streaming services competing for exclusive deals and fragmenting the music industry, fans often have to struggle between numerous different platforms just to listen to their favorite artists.
Playlist makers are also not compensated at all for the hard work they put into creating well-crafted playlists that, experts say, drives most of the growth in the online streaming industry.
The Tempations, Yeah? Everyone remembers the Temptations. Artists have had the short end of the stick since the first cave painting. That is the purpose of Opus, to hopefully correct that mistake by using this decentralized platform. If you want a more detailed description of their project, their is a link to their white paper in the description. Oh and lookie-here, looks like they are hiring. Check that out if its up your alley. The ICO is over, but it is only the beginning for this bad boy. Now if your asking yourself? The platform is plenty? Why a token? Pointless. Well, first off--anger problems, fix them. Next, hey, don't worry, because we got it.
UJO, another-wait...why does this look so familiar? Hmmm, identity crisis. Let's have a look at Ujo here shall we? Unlike our first contender, UJO is a blockchain based platform. only promoting the fair pay. And look, Imogen Heap. Love that chick. The reason I really am digging these two, is the change they guiding towards when it comes to the music industry and the positive change--not just for artists, but consumers as well. Cheaper music for easier purchase could lead to less pirating. Well, that's my theory anyway. A easy to use platform, and here's the team. Totally forgot the Opus team. Please, check out the team, deserve recognition for hard work.
Now, if you're into the more legal side of things, this might just be your cup-o-tea. Now this is still awaiting phase 1, not too much info other than being a peer track, something or other. But! The difference between guys at Opus and Ujo, is that Muse-from my understanding, would work with those platforms to help with the nitty gritty when it comes to the music industry; so, via Muse, you would be paid as it plays middle man as to ensure true song ownership. I'm really interested on how that's going to work. Maybe it will entice musicians more to go through something like Muse if there are problems with the platforms in the future, could always be a possibility. And, really? Come on guys--have some individuality. Pink and purple for everyone!!! You get pink and purple, you get pink and purple, we all get pink and purple! Well, except for music coin. They know who they are.
On that subject, shout to music coin for the appreciated break of pink and purple. I feel like Alice being followed by the Cheshire cat. Now, last on our list. Is Music coin. When i first captured their website, it was outdated. I thought to myself, that if they want to be taken seriously, they need a better face. And low and behold, voila, graphic design heaven. So, music coin is actively working towards being a serious contender. The reason music coin is different, is because, it's just a coin. A currency for the music world and purchasing and selling there of. The problem with this could be...what's the use? We have currency, a lack of currency flowing in the music world is not the root problem. Maybe after the root problem is fixed then... I don't know. So many questions, perhaps it's a good thing to avoid monopolizing the market and spreading it out for people to choose which they feel is better. Isn't that the reason why were in this, to give us a chance to choose?
