Two Whales One Diagram

steemit-enternamehere-origami_journey-whales.jpg

After experiencing the frustration fun of making an origami octopus from a sheet of notebook paper, it was time to take the next steps on my origami journey. So I acquired a package of square sheets in 3 sizes and many colors with the mindset of
Fold them all! No mistakes, no worries!

These were both made from the same diagram, Ballenita, by JL Figueroa.
The second version is more refined, though I think if there were a third version it would be the best of the group.steemit-enternamehere-origami_journey-whales-1st-2nd.jpg

Great sample of origamis you shared here... I like the idea of creating amazing art from a piece of paper. Thanks. Hugs from Spain. :);

Thank you for commenting, I appreciate it! Yes, it's amazing what one flat square can become, isn't it? There are countless models that can be made, far beyond what I envisioned at the start of this little project. ☺

ooo I have not seen this particular origami! I think I might join in on some origami fun :) it's been about half a year since I folded something I think

I would love to see you fold a model! What have you made in the past? I bet you could incorporate pole somehow...

Hahhahaha maybe! But I will definitely fold something. I will think about how to incorporate it LOL

Brilliant, as usual! Great progress!

Thank you. Once I master the basic folds, I will move to the more complex models, like the ones you have made. There are endless possibilities with origami!

Tell me, how are your balloons? The last one I saw was your sexual swan.

I abandoned balloon temporarily
I was not satisfied with the material, that is what I have achieved so far.

So, I wasn't happy with any of this. And that was only the beginning. The thing with balloons is that they last very short time (maximum 2 days) and then they are gone. I want something that last longer.

Yes, they are only temporary, kind of like that zen sand art...though from your pictures it looks like you've gotten good with the balloons. what about pottery? That's somewhat longer lasting. I feel like you would come up with some really wacky, provocative pieces. Oh, or papier-mâché, that's always fun and messy ☺

Lovely idea :) I'll follow a steps you showing here to make a whales origamis. My daughter gonna love these. And hopefully it could help us to be a big whale one day :)

Lol, "calling all whales!" Although the diagram for this model doesn't have that many steps, it does have a few folds that may take practice. Thank you for stopping by.

That second whale is indeed a good one, that tail is veeery well executed in my opinion. It has the flow in it, I like it!

The second one was much smoother! Still didn't look like the diagram, but that's okay. I was happy to get the important details like the eyes and the tail. Thanks!

very cute, and good work with the perspective on the thumbnail, totally looks like it's floating in the sea.

I might get to do a sail to mexico soon, and the captain says I would get to swim with whale sharks, one can dream!

Thanks for having a look at the paper whales. Swimming with whale sharks would be unforgettable! Not to mention excellent post material :D Oh AND material for future work too, that's a trifecta win.

Haha yeah, if I do it, you have to make some whale shark origami!

I love your swimming whale. Looks so 3-D. Ray Harryhousen has nothing on you. (Or did, to be more correct). Nice new creatures, can you do a minnow? You could sell them on the site ( : Though I suppose after awhile, folding 22,000 or so of them might get a bit...tedious at best.

A minnow, now that's a model I haven't seen yet. I haven't made a fish yet, there's got to be a fish! Yeah, if I sold them I'd be folding for years and years. Thanks for the comments!

These are so badass!!!! love the little eyes you added... hahah picked some perfect colors for them as well :) so dope.

I've got the whale of approval - yes! Speaking of whales, I'll be sending one your way tomorrow, along with a couple other items. Now it's my turn to get the mail en route anxieties ☺

O man hell yea!!! time to move out next to the mailbox in anticipation hahahahahaha :)
