Origami doesn't always fold as planned.
It's not a total failure, at least the poor thing can still stand.
the end of a life without origami!
Fold them all! No mistakes, no worries!
Do you find it difficult to shed baggage from your past mistakes?

It's good that we also share our fails! You learned and you will make an octopus next time.
I suggest....
(I think it involves some cut for the tentacles)

Is it too much cheating to draw on the paper and cut it!? Would it become 'the art formerly known as origami'?? This octopus looks like an opportunity to use the BIG PAPER. Okay it's not that big, only 8" x 8".
What's the biggest origami model you've ever made?

Hehe I think a third of my origami are #fail!

Yeah, sometimes it just goes to mess so quickly!

You put in a valiant effort. The only origami I know how to make are frogs and doves.

Yep, I told myself I was going to fold every single sheet, even if I don't get it right. There are so many people who know how to make at least one or two models, origami is everywhere! Thanks for having a look ☺

I still like it!

Me too, but you could try to cut some little triangle pices out and unfold it. Would be interesting to see^^

I hadn't thought of that actually, thank you for the suggestion! Who knows what this might mutate into ☺

Was gonna say a sad elephant - all ears with the trunk in the wrong place.
I hope you save all the mistakes. You could make a great "Island of Misfit Toys" post about them.

Elephant, that's a great addition to the paper menagerie! Oh for sure. I learned my lesson after carelessly chucking that raggedy little octopus from last year. At least we have the pictures, @ddschteinn.
"Island of Misfit Toys", that's a brilliant idea, especially since I've got the all-inclusive group diorama coming together in my mind. I could incorporate a literal island.
This origami journey is so much fun, I feel so happy that I decided to give it a go! The off-shoot ideas and conversations that have stemmed from the journey are the best part, next to the learning.

And the best thing is, you could keep all your mistakes there, and tell people you did them on purpose!

Still looks pretty artsy to me, I would not call it a fail @enternamehere :) Much Love!

I appreciate you taking a moment to come check it out! Fail is a relative term, I don't take it personally against myself ☺

Somehow I missed this post, bummer. I've been remiss in my miss. But my first thought was: 'one horned bison eating grass.'

One-horned bison, yeah that looks about right! Whatever it is it sure looks like its grazing on something. I wonder if I can find some good instructions to making a chicken. I found a model called The Pooper and I sh!t you not, it was a dog pooping. Origami pooping dog - difficulty level off the charts. So there MUST be a chicken somewhere...
Anyway, even though it's past the payout window, you still made it by to visit. Thanks!

I'm sneaky, I can now give your comment a full-vote, though my inflatable kiddie pool is a bit drained at this time. (the kiddie pool is where the minnows go to work up their votes. They swim in circles in reverse-fin' really fast and make SBD's. (Swimming Backwards Dollars). Really plays havoc with their little dorsal's, but then it's worth it to make votes.)
I now have a new-found appreciation for your art form. I went to look at the 'pooper'. Good gracious sakes alive, I had NO idea what that folding thing was all about. You must be an art engineer to do what you do. I could't even FOLLOW the drawings...mentally. And you fold along those lines all the time. (I realize you said that was off the charts, but I still can appreciate what it takes...a lot of patience and a large brain.) Good on ya, and way to go serious.
That would be classic to find a chicken. I could use it in a post or somehow as an icon in my Schteinn Science Report. Maybe a mascot for the S.S.S.S., though I guess Mr. Chicken is for that. Hmm. Food for thought. Maybe the mug should wait a bit, in case one surfaces. (I was going to get on that soon. Fast, I am not)...
Another ??...could you draw a realistic looking skull of a rodent, if you had the image...with a couple of modifictaions, of course. For a post in the future. It would need to be inked, and look like the ones' in the Smithsonian and such....line drawings. We can chat more on it. Just curious though.
(WOW, I wrote a tome here...sorry about that.)

The Pooper must be the holy grail of origamis, only for the truly dedicated folders. It may be quite some time before you see an ENH-folded Pooper.
I'll keep an eye out for a good chicken. There are more origami instructions online than you can shake a stick at, eventually I'm sure to find 'im.
Yes, I'd be thrilled to ink a rodent skull! Line drawings are a lot of fun for me. Send me the details in a PM on .chat anytime. I've been looking at it daily since it came back online, so I'll see your message.

Man, am I behind on here. I'll let you know when I get to the skull post. As usual, I'm slower than frozen mud. But I'll get there sometime. So much to do on Steemit, so little time. Whinge whinge whinge....
(Glad to see I'm not the only one that 'shakes a stick' at things.) Hopefully an origamichicken will surface sometime. And it won't be half as hard as The Pooper. Though maybe a chicken laying nuggets? That might be cute. Or an Origamiegg.

Still one of the most important origamis for sure, you will only learn to improve even more! 😊 I can see where you wanted to go with it, but it still looks pretty neat, so big ups for the abstract bear! These figures would be cool in a stopmotion video on a random journey haha.

I totally agree, this one is important. I don't have the very first one, the origami octopus made from notebook paper. I really should've keep it, I definitely don't trash any of my origami anymore.
Stop motion origami animal journey, that sounds like a project @tysonjames would create! He's got a ton of work, whenever you have a minute to look, you might see something you like on his blog too.
Thanks for stopping by, there is much more origami to come!
