Origami butterfly

in origami •  7 years ago

This is a simple origami butterfly model that I folded. The interesting thing about this model is that the body of the butterfly is white, while the wings are coloured. This is because the paper I folded it with is coloured on one side only, as is generally the case for paper which is specially made for origami.

It's relatively uncommon for models to be designed to exhibit both sides of the paper. The exact shape and angle of the wings are also left up to the folder's discretion, so all in all, I thought it was a pretty interesting and artistic design!

The instructions for this model are by Michael G. LaFosse, and can be found in his book, Advanced Origami.

I'm thinking of doing a few origami tutorials on here once I get my video recording equipment set up! Please look forward to them!
