This is first Steemit post, hopefully of many others to come!
As an origami artist, I've come across multiple different techniques of folding paper into different shapes. Wet-folding, dry-folding, box pleating, crumpling, you name it. One that stood out though, was folding kusudamas and interactive origami models.
Whenever you ask someone; 'What is the first thing that comes to mind, when thought of the word origami?' most people would probably say; 'a crane' or 'one paper'.
Well, don't get me wrong, I would probably say the same thing. But what many people don't know, is that there is so much more than only cranes and single sheet folded models.
Kusudamas (薬玉, meaning 'medicine ball') are beautifully folded paper models that usually (not always) are created by connecting multiple identical units.
There exists one origami model, which is an interactive origami model, but also a kusudama at the same time.
It's called the origami Firework, designed by Yami Yamauchi.
The model, and photographs are all made by me.
I hope this blog post will encourage people to explore origami, and to create!
