The Many Faces of China

Hello Steemians, what's the story behind those eyes?

The best part about traveling is the people you meet! Yes, it's great to try new foods and see new places but usually it's the people who leave a lasting impression. This might be locals or fellow travelers but one smile or encounter can make you remember a person all your life.

China is obviously full of different people. Around 1.4 billion to be precise. The majority of the people here are "Han Chinese"(about 91%) but there are also 55 different ethnic minorities.

Here are a few of those individuals. What story do they tell?

This is Coco. She is a teacher and a beautiful person. She's traveled all around Asia and she's quick to laugh. Her dress made me think of the Steemit logo.

This is a chef at a shao kao (BBQ) restaurant. I had to get a photo of him because he had a brilliant smile. He was just walking around genuinely enjoying his day. Funny thing is, when I asked him if I could take his photo, his smile wasn't as big and natural. If you look close you can see the glimmer in his eyes.

awesome pictures, posts like this are what i want to see on steemit = real life

yes, people are awesome.... following you to see more.

The Shao Kao chef looks like a really nice guy, a bit shy on the photo. I guess it's not that usual when white people ask him to take a picture of him😁I loved all the photos, truly.

Lol! Yeah it probably wasn't a normal day for him. I actually told him in Chinese that I like his smile - probably creeped him out a little. Wish I could have captured him naturally though.

I guess you said that you like his smile while taking the actual photo of him, that's why he got a bit worried and looked funny on the picture hahaha just kidding)))

Nice street photography

Such a good post man, looks like you do have a deep understanding about China. You do not post often, lol.

Thanks Shen! Yeah I've been a little behind lately. Trying to enjoy the last parts of summer with my girlfriend :D. I'll be posting more soon.

Nice post. It is interesting how we are living in the same place but our view of what we see is completely different depending on our personality and situation in life. In other words everyone is unique and it is interesting to get to know what's hiding under the surface :)

Thanks Dan. Yeah that's the beauty of travel isn't it. All of these photos are actually from another city - Jinan. That's probably why they look a little different than what you're used to in Hangzhou. Learning Mandarin has made me able to have a small glimpse of the differing personalities here. I got a long ways to go though.

I think learning mandarin is the key to enjoy life here, combined with a sense for exploration:)

Eitsky, you must be a well traveled person! hoping to see your content in the future! I enjoyed this piece. I agree with you: People are definitely the ones that keep in your memories! Cheers for the good story mate!

Thank you. I mostly write about China so if you're interested in Asia, check out my posts. By the way, a friend tip - Don't upvote posts that are older than 7 days. They've already been paid out and it just ends up draining your voting power. Good luck on Steemit!
