Wanna learn to sing? Techniques and demo video!

Simply put, when exercising the voice, practice and explore the possible!

Explore and allow your voice to express the potential it has to make sounds. Try to sound silly, sad, angry, reverent, grateful, and any other emotion. Infusing your voice with emotion can create interesting new expressions.

Another exercise is to not focus on anything, just sit empty as peripheral vision, but when thoughts pass through the streams of your mind, do not attach to them and stay with them, stay as the empty peripheral consciousness. From this place, make sounds. Let your voice express itself, but stay as the much a passive observer as you can.

Find a nice tunnel, stairwell, parking garage, lake, or cave (anywhere with good acoustics)! Even (and especially) the SHOWER! :)

TRY AND MAKE SOUNDS YOU'VE NEVER MADE! AND FIND NEW COMBINATIONS! Really loud and powerful to all the sudden very shaky, whispery, timid. Try things out!

Important tip: Please don't allow thoughts like "I feel embarrassed" or "I can't sing" stop you from this adventure through sound discovery. The human voice is an AMAZING, healing, and wonderful instrument. Anyone can play it.

REMEMBER: PLAY MUSIC ... the keyword is Play. Have an innocent, playful, child-hearted attitude. Be fearless, bold, and even obnoxious. Grunt, growl, make animal sounds, tones, and try new combinations of vowels and consonant sounds.

In the video  is used a digital reverb effect (post-recording) to create a little more ambience, but this is not nessesary! I am simply exploring the sounds, observing, while occasionally infusing my voice with the emotions I am feeling/focusing on, and then returning to the place of emptiness.

Happy singing!

This was a good post, I enjoyed the video. At first, it sounded like a cacophony of noise, but it developed very well. I love music very much.

Other people hear voices in their heads. I can't stop the music!

Thank you brother! I try to sing with an open mind so that I don't impose limitations on the journey. Sometimes cultural norms try and oppress my exploration so I respond with fearlessness, openness and trust. It helps me build confidence! Please don't stop the music! :)
