There are many moments in which inspiration does not reach us but we want to create in the musical field, forgetting that we overlook some of the most important factors when it comes to wanting to develop in this work and one of them has a lot to do with the kind of music we listen to every day.

What does the type of musician that I listen to have to do?

Much more than you think at the unconscious level, dear reader, since as we listen to a song over and over again, they are recorded on the hard disk of our brain with phrase patterns, heights of sounds, rhythms and even we usually imitate them or try to do it with the voice, hands or feet if you have noticed.

Therefore if your repertoire is varied, you will handle many more rhythms, phrases and heights of notes at the unconscious level.

Since I began to experiment listening to a greater diversity of musical genres, I was noticing that creativity increased when it came to making music, because of course my memory had many more elements that a single musical genre could not give me.

This started because when I saw classes at the local jazz school, the teacher always recommended bands of the style, to remember in the genre, of course if you want to dedicate yourself to making a Only music style is fine you can only listen to that, but remember something, you are imposing a limit on yourself that will affect you in the future.

The musician must learn to master several styles, have a comprehensive education and then specialize in an area if he wishes.

My recommendation is to listen to more styles of music that you are already used to listening to, vary! and also try to touch them. This will raise your potential beyond what you could imagine.

Yes!!

I play the violin/fiddle, and I am about to get myself a mandolin! I play and listen to Turkish folk music and Contra dance music (New England/Americana folk). But I also listen to California bass music, classical, jazz, reggae, and some other things less often.

What do you listen to?

You've a nice taste in music, I listen jazz, reggae, bolero, rock, metal, pop sometimes, dance, country, soul, gipsy jazz, jazz funk, jazz fusion, neo soul.

I agree with you! You can be 'master' of one style or 'master' of music :)

You're right, thanks for reading!
