Original Music - Freshly Rolled Grooves Ready To Smoke

in originalmusic •  8 years ago  (edited)

This is a track I'm working on to polish my production chops on. It's completely different from other songs I've recorded before and that's the point, to be able to produce all kinds of music, you need to diversify.

If you missed the last songs I posted you can hear it here

Snoop Scoop

I used a drum machine again on this song and worked out some simple melodies and played bass guitar on it. The bass is also played on a keyboard to sync with the bass guitar to give it a little extra thickness on the bottom end.

I used Cubase 5 to record and mix it on.

I was listening to a lot of Snoop Dogg before recording this which is why it sounds so Bow-Wow-Wow-Yippy-Yo-Yippy- Yea. I met Snoop before, but that's another story for another time. Let's just say, Snoop can smoke some serious weed. I tried to calculate how many grams he smokes per hour but I was too stoned and lost count.

If anybody wants to write some lyrics go for this, go for it. Hint Hint @verbal-d. I have some lyrics I started called, "Sex Is Better Than Drugs If You Got The Right Pusher", but haven't finished it yet and for lyrics like that, it would be better to have some sexy girls singing it.

Let me know what you think. You can be honest. I can take it. I'm not one of those sensitive songwriters.

Should we call for the stage hook or would you like to hear more?

It definitely has a "smoking weed in the 90's" kind of vibe. I'm looking forward to hearing it with lyrics, especially with that title. I'm just on my laptop right now, so I can't hear the production quality, but it sounds good from what I can hear. Tomorrow I'll have my monitors set up in my new place, and I'll be able to hear it in all its stony glory.

Definitely better with monitors or headphones.

I thought I remember reading an old Chemical Bros. interview in the 90's and they said something like... All you need is Cubase.

Love those guys. It's amazing what you can do with recording these days. So glad I've lived this long to see the new technology in studio recording.
