Ramona had two left feet.
Everyone knew taking her on this next ski trip would mean designating a ski babysitter.
Nobody volunteered.
"Ramona has two left feet!"
complained her little sister Raven.
She was a skilled skier and even had first place metals.
Raven was the only sibling on the trip.
The rest were first and second cousins who would be the last to take the responsibility for Ramona.
The trip was a five hour, five minute drive. It was shortened greatly in Raven's mind because of the dread of ski babysitting her big sister.
They made it to Lake Tahoe. It was so majestic.
The snow was deep, and the air was crisp.
The trees seemed alive as they swayed with the wind.
After a half day of settling in, it was time to finally ski.
Ramona sat down next to a snow man.
"I wanna watch you guys first, then I will try!!"
Everyone was happy to leave her and freely show off their skills.
They did tricks and flips at unbelieveable speeds.
Ramona was in awe and regretted not taking up skiing at an early age.
"Hey girl"
Ramona looked around. No one was there.
"Don't be afraid of the snow."
Ramona looked at the snowman.
He wasn't moving his lips but she still heard him.
"Close your eyes"
Ramona closed her eyes and she could see the snow man clearly.
My name is Snow Foot.
"Why are you afraid my child?"
Ramona answered him sadly.
"I have two left feet, and I am afraid I may fall." She said.
"Let us practice" said Snow Foot with a fatherly tone.
In Ramona's mind she was taught by the snowman how to ski.
What seemed like a half of a day was only a few minutes.
Raven came over to Ramona.
"You ready to try?"
"Sure." Ramona answered with new found confidence.
Ramona put on her skiis and went down the first easy slope perfectly
Her fear had disappeared.
She felt she could hang with the big boys.
"Where are the others?"
Asked Raven, almost in a whisper.
"They are up there."
Raven pointed towards a big hill.
"Let's go!". Ramona said excitedly.
Raven looked at her sister puzzled.
"I thought you didn't know how to ski?" Asked Raven.
She was kinda angry.
Either her sister lied to her or she was on her way to get seriously hurt on the big slope.
Raven laughed and explained
"Well, I had two left feet....
but now I have Snow Foot, my right foot and three feet are better than two."
"But all together that's five feet."
"What?" Raven asked confused.
"Nothing!!"
Yelled Ramona as she headed towards the lift.
They were able to ski as a group. No ski babysitter needed.
Ramona never fell that day.
She was even invited to the Snow Foot's birthday party that night....in her dreams.
