The spillway is failing and Lake Oroville is at it's top. Is the emergency spillway next? The Oroville Dam continues to survive but 2017 is turning into a record year for rainfall in California. The drought may be dwindling but what about the dam?
The latest concern should be the pair of micro quakes that hit the area today. One was in the lake close to the dam. The other one is on the same hillside as the Emergency Spillway. The word is more quakes are to follow in the Northern California, be prepared.
The spillway has seen better days and hopefully it will hold out through the rest of the rainy season till full repairs can be made.
There are even T-shirts about the events to come.
