Scientific publishing was customarily controlled by learned societies. These learned societies include National Academy of Science, Royal society, just to mention a few. Large multinational companies have advanced to take over the market for chemicals, research equipment, and various researcher services; the publication of scientific results from publishers has become a highly cost-effective attempt. Three largest publishers namely Elsevier, Springer Nature and Wiley-Blackwell-now represent around half of the ten billion Gross Domestic Products (GDP) scientific publication industries, their authority after years of alliance with the industry. With income precincts outdoing even those of technical giants Apple and Google, it appears implausible that scientists are contributing significantly to the success of these journals for free.
Furthermore, the scientific publishing industry is enduring stagy changes. The sum of journals continues to escalate, competing for the best. With many journals remaining in the traditional format, relying on library subscriptions alongside ever tighter library budgets, there are a number of new journals deciding on the open access route. In this model, it is the authors paying the fees. Following acceptance, their paper is then made freely available for all.

MISSION
For some time now, there is the issue of market inefficiencies. Orvium seeks to get rid of market inefficiencies and help improve the quality and effectiveness of scientific publishing. Being the leading publication platform for research communities has been the sole objective of orvium.

PROBLEMS
Research communities are faced with the problem of high publication costs. Research communities are also faced with biased publication and peer review process, lack of rewards and recognition for reviewers and a proliferation of low quality journals.
There have been multiple initiatives to curb the issue of market inefficiencies but to no avail.

SOLUTION
The introduction of disruptive business model into research publication market through

  1. Blockchain and smart contracts,
  2. Decentralized storage: The team will decentralize organisations and have decentralized storage of papers and scientific materials.
  3. Cloud Computing: It provides flexibility and global availability of to the platform and services.
  4. Big data analytics and machine learning: It enables advanced analysis to enhance life cycle automatization and facilitate peer review accuracy.

CONCLUSION
In early scholarly publishing, the majority of high-quality journals were published by professional, scientific societies. The rise of commercial, for-profit publishers led to a proliferation of scientific journals. Instead of publishing being driven by scientific advancement as it was in the past, it now took motivation from profit.
The sole objective of orvium platform is to help scientific communities across the globe share their publications, get rid of existing inefficiencies and improve the quality and effectiveness of the publication cycle.
