The human psychology is
xenophobic, so once it sees a stranger
linguistically, ideologically, and ethnically ; it
takes an aggressive position. For centuries,
minority groups have been always
considered different cultures from the
surrounding society. Furthermore, minority
across the globe are usually treated
offensively. For instance the African-
American people in the United States of
America and the Riffis people in Morocco.
The African-American people face a
numerous issues in the American society.
Firstly, we have to take in consideration that
the majority of African-American people have
been labor hand and servants ,thereby, they
had an essential role in constructing the
United States. However, they have been left
behind as a minority on the edge of society.
The African-American's history is full of
margining, segregation, and oppression
scenes based on racist factors, such as
black people were only allowed to sit
backside of the bus and educational
separation between the blacks and whites.
"Woodrow Wilson was an outspoken white
supremacist who believed that blacks were
inferior" said J.Lowen . To wrap up, the
African-American will remain suffering ,as
long as, racism exists.
The Rif region has passed through a
rough period under the monarchy regime.
Historically, in the post-independence,
precisely, in 1958-1959, Riffis rebelled
against the Moroccan policies toward the Rif
region, but the military forces funnelled the
Riffis ,unhesitatingly, by the will of prince 2nd
Hassan. When he inherited the leadership, in
one of his speeches insulted the Riffis as
"riffraffs". After the death of 2nd Hassan, 6th
Mohamed became the king, he proclaimed
conciliation with the Rif region ,but it was
only on papers. Right after the death of ,
Mohsin Fikri, the fishmonger that was ground
savagely in a trash truck , people came out to
condemn the convicted and rise a
socioeconomic demands, including
university, hospital ,and factory.... However,
the authorities arrested about 400 protesters
and caused one death. To sum up the
Moroccan authorities still exercising tyranny
on this minority group.
These two minorities have many
matters in common. Firstly, they have an
important role in developing the two
countries. However, they both have been
suffering from oppression and discrimination
by the authority and society. To conclude the
two minorities are both similar to each other.
As a conclusion, we observe that
these two minorities are treated negligently,
but at least the African-American reached
some of their legal rights unlike the Riffis.
