Humminbird Helix Fish Finder

It's quite a lot of fun when you land on a bunch of fish while out on your boat. I've recently been having a great time with my Humminbird Helix Fish Finder, and I've learned a lot about how they appear on the display.

With all of the technology that has been built into the Helix 9, it is possible to look at the amazingly bright and clear view on the display in down imaging or side imaging. It is really possible to see virtually everything that is under the surface of the water in a logical manner.

One thing that I have noticed is that the fish I'm finding don't always show up as an arc on the Humminbird Helix Fish Finder, sometimes they can show up on the bottom as a straight line.

With some research, I found out that there is a technical reason why they show up as an arc one minute, and the next they show up as a straight line.

So, without getting too deep in the physics behind what is going on with the Humminbird Helix Fish Finder, when a fish is out from the sonar beam, the beam is kind of coming down across the fish as it is a little further away at that point in time. As you are very slowly driving over the fish, this allows the sonar to paint some really good detail of the fish on the display.

For my money, I'm not that worried if it is or isn't a perfectly formed arc that's on the display of the Humminbird Helix Fish Finder, this thing is magic! As the sonar bounces back off either the bottom, or whatever is floating around between the boat and the bottom, it paints a really clear picture that makes it easy to see just what is going on down there.

Sometimes it looks to me like a bit of a blob more than an arc, or a line, either way, I know that when it's between the surface and the bottom, it's probably a fish.

Who really knows what kind of fish it is in some cases, for me that doesn't really matter, as an Angler, I'm just trying to find fish.

But back to the display on the Humminbird Helix Fish Finder, when it finds a fish on the bottom, it paints it in a different color!

I'm not the kind of guy to read the manual with any product from cover to cover normally, but when there are fish involved, and my chances of increasing the potential for a catch are real, hey, I'll read it three times to get what I have to outta it.

I picked up my Humminbird Helix 9 Fish Finder on GearThrill, and have been extremely happy with the quality of the product and the speed of the delivery from the team there.

The Helix 9 allows you to go to the down imaging, and even if it is a straight line, I'am able to tell exactly where that fish is. I've had a few different units in my time, and I've never seen anything that's more clear and easy to use as this gem. This thing shows me where the fish are, and if I can see where they are, I can guarantee, I'm able to catch them.
