Just a few short miles south of the islands of Bimini lies the visible yet sunken wreck of the S.S. Sapona. Constructed at the end of WWI and used for rum-running during Prohibition, this ship ran aground in a hurricane in the 1920's and has been sitting there since. It was also used frequently for bombing practice by the US during WWII. Originally a concrete-hulled ship, the salt corrosion, bombings, and storms have weathered away just about all of the concrete. It's a great place for to snorkel as it's only about 15 feet deep there and has a lot of debris which in turns attracts a lot of fish.
