A few years ago my buddy and I decided to take our fathers up to Northern Ontario for a father/son canoe trip.
It is pretty much the closest "wilderness" you can find close to Toronto and as such there are very few if any people to run into when exploring the area.
There is an old fire tower which, although fairly sketchy, is still climbable and offers outstanding views on clear days. The orange tarp and man in the red shirt is where we camped on top of Maple Mountain at the base of the tower.
The lakes can sometimes be windy on the large ones but since you're not at the office the struggle is nothing to complain about. It was an amazing trip to do with our dads and I would love to do it again.
