Will you win a soul today?

I Corinthians 9:16-22

I want to recount a hypothetical story I heard years back. Over ten people got trapped in a mysterious pit, and were unable to get out. Providentially, someone who was passing by noticed their plight. He went and bought a thick rope which he used to pull out one of them. He gave the rope to the man and told him to help the others. Overwhelmed with joy, the man forgot about the other people trapped in the pit. He ran back to the village to testify of his deliverance.

What would you call the man?
Callous, Selfish or wicked?

Would it surprise you if I told you that many Christians display that kind of attitude towards their loved ones and neighbours who are not born-again? God has saved us that others should be saved through us.

Recently, the press reported that a two-year old child, born with HIV, was cured. The research was funded by the National Institute of Health and The American Foundation for AIDS and Research. That was a major breakthrough that made headlines around the world. Would it be right to have found the cure for AIDS and not announce it? In the same way, would it be right to find the remedy for sin and not announce it?

What solutions are you proffering for the kingdom sake? How many souls are you bringing to the Master? How have you built on the talents he gave you?

Father, ignite the fire of evangelism in my life in Jesus' name.
