Shrinking Packaging Sizes

Marketing Madness

I would prefer that the prices go up the amount in my prepackaged item stays the same. I suppose I could be in the minority, but I want a certain amount of stuff when I buy an item. If it costs more so be it. They seem to be able to do it with petrol/gas, water, and other items sold by volume or weight. Why not food or items that are prepackaged?

Or are they trying to reduce portion sizes because everyone is overweight or getting obese? Well, guess what, it ain't working. Some people (me) will buy an additional item to ensure I get the amount I want, only problem is that once you have opened the second pack and had one piece the rest should be put away, that doesn't seem to happen for some reason.

This results in me not buying any most weeks! This means that the profit they make from me has gone down from a few dollars a week, to now a few dollars a month, very smart business.

in the photo above you actually get about 14% less with the "new" modern shape. Almost everything that is prepackaged is following suit, time to sack the marketers. The other thing that also happens is cheaper ingredients get substituted in, e.g. more bread crumbs, less fish in fish patties, assuming that the number in the pack stays the same.

I remember when the original Milo bars where changed about 10 years ago i never bought another one since. They missed out on all those sales to me.

Indeed, silly companies.
