Awaking!

in pagan •  4 years ago

I awoke from my slumber
Head full of stars and impossibilities
And the dust of the Sandman's magic in my eyes
As one does in the early morning
When the bed is still calling
And the body still aches

I awoke to the light of the sun
That blessed light of Helios
Streaming through the window
As birds chirped in their need
For a mate to find
And a new generation to bring forth

I stood naked before that light
A chill ran through me
And I shivered not from the cold
But from the glory of this simplicity
The simplicity of waking
Alive and able

I washed and cleansed my body
And with it my soul
Before the altar I approached
To light that sacred fire
That in Hestia's honor would now burn
Hoping that she bless me with her divine presence

I lit the incense and spoke the words
The words I speak every morning
To seek her out and call her to me
And with her all the Gods
Of fair and golden Olympus
An ancient and splendid home

Kyria ton Vomon
Prostatisa ton anthropon
Aeonia kai Theia Estia
Evlogisteme me tin parousia sasa
Sas evkaristo para poli

I am filled with joy
And to the Gods I say a prayer
For they are always with me
They of eternal life
They who are the very cosmos
They who are my patrons in life
