Title: “Nameless World”
Artist: Skip the Use
Length: 3:19
Platforms: YouTube, Apple Music, Spotify
To kick off Paige’s Playlist, let’s start with a simple bop I discovered a couple days ago: “Nameless World” by Skip the Use. The song features a person reaching out to someone in order to get over the hardships of his life. The hope of belonging is a universal hope, and in “Nameless World”, it is a hope that is portrayed with an awesome guitar riff.
A really cool thing about this song is its very unique instrumentation. The song uses a combination of electronic beeps, drums, and guitars to create a pretty unique sound. The instrumentals during the verses are pretty sparse before kicking into overdrive in the chorus, making the song feel like a rollercoaster from start to finish. This adds to the feeling that the song is going for, while also making it a much more fun listen.
I can imagine that the vocals would not be to everyone’s tastes, but I think they are one of the song’s strongest aspects. It is hard in a song such as this to be able to keep up the fun, upbeat melody while still conveying the desperation of the character, but the lead singer of Skip the Use pulls it off very well.
The song is not very long, but is a fun time to be had. I recommend it if you like jams with a unique sound.
