in paintbynumber •  7 years ago

And here are the results of my second week. I spend anywhere from 10 minutes to 3 hours per day on this.

I'm still hoping someone else will pick up a kit and join me. I think I'll change the category name I post in to #paintbynumber instead of #pbn to avoid confusion as I see it also stands for 'private blog network'.

If you want to give it a try you can buy kits at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and even Amazon. I heard that the ones from China can take months to arrive so I would suggest going with a brand such as Dimensions or Plaid.

Thanks for looking!

Looks really good, I like how you post the progress in phases, makes it exciting to wait for the next ones! 😊

Thank you! Posting helps to keep me motivated too!

My mom and aunt just started these things where you stick teeny-tiny little diamond-cut beads of plastic to a grid that's covered in a sort of adhesive. These things are literally only millimeters big. One sneeze and they'd all be gone if I was doing it!
You're really making headway! I'm glad you're sharing your progress with us. :)

Tell them to get a magnifying glass! I can't believe how much it helps. It's like the difference between wearing my glasses...or not. I want to find one of those that is on an arm so I don't have to hold it.

It's going to be stunning when it is done. Great job!

Thank you! Now I have to convince my husband to take up frame-making!

It is very interesting to observe the work step by step. Thank you for this opportunity!

My pleasure...and thank YOU for following and upvoting! 🌻

Really looks nice. The details are really evident in these pictures. Great work!!!!

Thanks! The magnifying glass really helps with the details. And thanks for the upvote!

You're welcome!

Does a kit contain all the paints and brushes etc you need? Speaking here as someone who has no art supplies whatsoever but is intrigued by your progress posts...

Yes the kit does contain everything. Some come with a hard board like this one. Others come with a soft canvas. I have not yet tried the canvas ones, but I think it would be easier if those were mounted before painting. The only other thing that I needed was a 3x magnifying glass! It made a huge difference...but then my eyes are not the greatest. It also helps if you have good lighting. I paint at a table under a flourescent shop light where I was planning to start my tomato plants! Hmmm, will have to rethink that one.

Thanks for the info. It seems like it would be a relaxing hobby.
Maybe you can find a kit to paint tomato plants instead :D

haha, yes, but those wouldn't taste very good!

This is extremely inspiring @anise ! I will check around to see if I can join you, but yours is awesome.

I hope you do! Thank you.

It's going to be stunning when it is done. Great job!

Beautiful art

Thanks!
