« There she blows!-there she blows! A hump like a snow-hill! It is Moby Dick! »

Since I was a child, I looked at the sea with amazement and admiration, imagining all its contents and the stories connected to it.
Then at 15 I read "Moby Dick" the famous Melville novel and reading the book gave me a strong impulse and a creative drive in the inner search for a world made of ships, sea monsters and men.
I re-read the famous novel at 53, a symbol of man's struggle against nature, and the emblem of all the attempts made by mankind to overwhelm and dominate the planet Earth with all its living beings.
The final inspiration for the realization of this watercolor was given to me by the eponymous film "the hearth of sea", a film adaptation of the novel "In the Heart of the Ocean" - The true story of the Essex whaling boat (In the Heart of the Sea: The tragedy of the whaleship Essex), written by Nathaniel Philbrick in 2000 about the history of the Essex whaling, this event inspired Herman Melville to write his famous Moby Dick.

« Laggiù soffia! Laggiù soffia! La gobba come una montagna di neve! È Moby Dick! »

Very nice art..
Hope be like you someday :)
