Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh ( 1864 - 1933 ) was a Scottish artis . Her design work became one of the defining features of the "Glasgow Style" at the 1890s. She was married to Charles Rennie Mackintosh , Scotland's famous architect , who once said about his wife, " I have talent. She has genius." . In the 1890s she began collaborating with her sister Frances and they opened the Macdonald Sisters Studio in Glasgow. Her most well-known works are gesso panels but she worked in a variety of media, including metalwork and embroidery.

Truly captivating. Do you have any idea what was used to paint the 3rd piece to achieve such depth in the texture?

She definitely has very cool style which you don't see often.

It's gesso on panel . Using this technique Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh created such a high-relief surface that help emphasize the linear style she was using at the time.
