STUDIO UPDATE 5

Back in the studio. I like having work hanging up in a public space, as it is in Cook St Coffee. Now I gotta just sit back and wait for the fish to bite! In the meantime, gotta keep  making work!

These works in progress are me reverting back to my expressionist style. The works my boss was interested in are ALL of that type of work, not the new stuff involving sections of independent patterning. I intend to combine processes of both ways of working to create a new type of image.

I found this stretcher my a dumpster. It was in perfect condition with a stupid paintings of a beach on it. Nice and large. I ripped the existing canvas off and re-streched it with drop cloth canvas aquired at the local house painting store. I am not priming my new paintings, making sure to leave areas with visible bare canvas fibers.

These two are going to go the route of a painting that I just sold at Cook St Coffee, and another that I just hung up there when I went to meet the woman who purchased the painting for her 8 day old son's bedroom. Its nice to convert artwork to USD and also possibly assist in influencing a young mind into becoming an artist on earth! Thats what happened to me, I grew up around my father's work and wanted to be an artist since I was 4 years old.

Here is the painting she bought:

And on the left is the painting that I hung up to hopefully sell next :)

I connected those 3 small strechers into this big long 3'x6' stretcher. I bought an angle grinder off craigslist for $40 to grind the screws that were too long and poking through the wood to the front, which was fun throwing sparks around the apartment when no one was home :)

Below is last night's progress, which I need to continue working with today.

I like how your taking the expressionism and combining that for a new look. Your works are very unique. The sectional pieces really jump out at you. Keep it up.
