Chagall and his wife, Bella Rosenfeld, first moved to Moscow in 1920, then back in Paris in 1923.
II. During World War II, during Nazi troops occupation of France and the Jews, Chagall escaped from Paris to Marseilles. From there, with the help of US journalist Varian Fry, he first traveled to Spain and Portugal, and in 1941 the Chagall settled in the United States.
On September 2, 1944, Chagall's wife Bella lost her life. Two years later, returning to Europe, Marc Chagall began working in Provence in the south of France from 1949. In the same year, it took part in the founding of the civil society organization named "Struggle of People with Friendship and Racism".
Marc Chagall died on March 28, 1985, at the age of 97 in France, in Saint-Paul de Vence.
