After India's test in May 1974, Z.A Bhutto in a press conference said:" We'll eat grass but will make atom bomb".
Earlier on January 20, 1972, PM Bhutto rallied a conference of nuclear scientists and nuclear engineers at Multan. At the Multan conference, where 283 scientists attended it, Bhutto asked
"Look we're going to have a bomb, will you give it to me and how will it take it to make a bomb. Finally one scientist dared to ask, " it could be made in five years, PM smiled and lifted his hand, dramatically thrust forward three fingers and said; "Three years". I want it in three years. A junior scientist named S.A butt got forward and said; it can be done in three years if all the resources and facilities be provided. Then Bhutto said "I shall find you the resources and shall find you the facilities.
Its militarization was initiated in January 1972.
