Kohat is a city in the Khyber Pakhtnkhwa province of Pakistan and is the capital of the Kohat District. This city acts as a centralized region for the Bangash tribe of Pashtun people. The city has been home to conflict between the British colonialists and local tribesmen in the 19th century. Therefore, the city has a rich history with regards to the British Raj control of the region. Currently the population of Kohat is home to 270,000 people. The city’s environment if focused on the British forts, bazaars and a military cantonment.
In 1848 Kohat came under British rule post a battle with Sikh soldiers and later separated in March of the following year. The Kohat pass and travel routes to Peshawar were established in 1850. In terms of the Kashmir war, many of the Kohat tribesmen went to war which also resulted in the reclaiming of Pakistani lands. Kohat’s parks are a large medium for sightseeing and entertainment in the region. The Tanda Wildlife Park is a large attraction for people, with its large amounts of mammals and birds from various parts of the globe.
